Lord Apfel attempts to defuse the situation by appealing to their mutual vanity. And Zorbab, surely you have nothing to gain from putting your collection at risk.

There is enough destruction in the universe, and too little of that which is truly beautiful. There is no need to subtract what you have that is beautiful from it.
