The likelihood of those people knowing each other, obeying the king, not being monsters like orcs, goblins or kobolds in the first place, of a healthy age, not crippled by prior injuries, not being selfish evil unwilling to risk death against them and all the other things they'd need to be both a threat and willing to fight the party strikes me as realistically being rather low.

So the setting is broken. Got it.
