He has realized that simply overwhelming him wouldn't be enough. He had to do his attacks... more complicated. Not a direct threat.
Snap Transmissioned himself to the other side of the room, and then with his free arm, he snapped more invisible ki strings.
Those strings served another purpose- it was a ki source for his transmission ability, and if he touched it... the plan was simple, he actually gave this plan high percent of possible success.
He stood now in combat stance, seemed to be finally prepared to face Apfel had on.
But the moment any part of Apfel's ki, including his World Blade will touch the strings- he will instant transmission Apfel behind him, and then with a quick slash will turn and try to cut him into two.
Why did he teleport away if he can use the World Blade? No, this is a trick. Apfel didn't need precognitive powers to recognize it. From where he stood, he was safe, but he dare not make the first move, because undoubtedly he will simply teleport away, probably behind him. What was the trick, though? He considered using the King's Lance to deliver a killing blow, but he didn't want to risk him learning that move, too.

He simply went into a defensive stance himself, wanting the assassin to make the first move.
