Let's Build a Setting! "The Verdant Fissure"

40. Marid. A nomadic, hermaphroditic, and amphibious people who's claim to fame is being native to the crushing depths of the undersea (that's what I'm calling the ocean under the fissure). Their head's are shaped like a cuttlefish, their feet are like a hairless goat's, and their chest is shaped like an upside down right triangle covered in chitin. Their most human feature are their hands and mouths, and even those are webbed with two thumbs and contain large fangs. Marid are famous for being traders, traveling underwater to corner dangerous markets. They sell exotic fish, ice that won't melt, and art of all kinds, especially stories.

(A note on technology and warfare: most metals don't hold up well in the undersea, and swords aren't very practical. Marid weaponry consists of military picks, spears, clubs, and crossbows. Armor is primarily scale mail. And materials used include chitin, scales, bone, and the aforementioned ice.)
