They're an atlantic Canadian band which did a lot of traditional maritime music (roots in Irish folk), and put pop/rock twists on the genre (or just played straight pop/rock music with traditional instrumentation). Unfortunately they're now disbanded, but they were active for 20 years, and the lead singer Alan Doyle still releases new music and tours with a new band.

They're a lot of fun. It's disappointing I won't be able to see them live again.
Seconded; GBS is an absolutely fantastic group with an absolute ton of music that I can't recommend enough.
