Marcy arrives at the scene to find one of the soldiers on his back, pressing his hand against his chest.

Across from him, shaking in fear as she holds a stolen firearm in both hands, is Marcy's friend Kerry Simmons. Kerry and Marcy grew up together. Though Marcy is one year old than her, the two of them never had any trouble getting along. Marcy has been able to learn a lot from Kerry, especially after the younger girl's latent magical powers awoke and she started using some of her spellcasting to help the town stay in good shape.

Kerry stares at Marcy with a guilty expression. "I-I heard him...he said he killed Anoira soldiers at the border..."

Her knees are weak and she looks like she might fall over.
