Scarecrow

Scarecrow couldn't help but question this attack. They had an advantage of numbers, and even if they weren't renown, from their equipment alone their strength should be somewhat apparent. A straightforward attack would imply that the female women monsters are somewhat confident that they could win, or at least harm, the party... The group was vigilant, so it should have been pretty obvious that there was no opportunity to sneak attack. Leaving was an option, they could have regrouped and attacked later, but they didn't hesitate to attack... It didn't look like they were desperate either. What was going on?

Even with those doubts, Scarecrow closed his eyes and unleashed his attacks without hesitation, fully intending to answer Eleanor's expectations.
