Q776 Am I correct in assuming that the lack of a blast shape corresponding to spells like Scorching Ray and Magic Missile, which create multiple weaker shots able to be divided among targets, is intentional to avoid issues like stacking secondary effects by focusing fire on one target or using Quicken Spell to kill incredible numbers of weaker enemies in a single round (as spell point hungry as such a trick might be)? If not, how might you write such a shape to avoid these problems?
