Whatever’s locked inside must be important to Strahd. Therefore, Yikkol wanted it.

She tests both doors to see if they’re unlocked. If not, she’ll look for a possible locking mechanism and disarm it.
Both the door and the trapdoor are clean smooth, lacking handlers or locks to operate them. Only the right magic words will crack them open.
