I think the ACT takes the average of those subscores, instead of adding them. Then again, I took the ACT over a year ago, so I can't remember.

I do remember that, both times I took it, my score was 28. It was so goddamn easy. It would have been higher if we were given more time on the reading section. I'm a slow reader.
