Kate Madison

After she finished all of her scientific examinations, she started comparing her notes to what she knew about demons.

She turned toward her shelf and pulled out a timeworn tome, the pages yellowed and crinkled. She opened the book and used the fine satin bookliner to help mark her pages. She unconsciously shivered, the long thing reminding her of Chaucer's disgusting tongue.

She looked up demons from Damascus and Japan. Both countries were known for their metalwork, for albeit different reasons. She increased the magnification on each different piece, making notes for the different colors and textures. Where dark metal and light metal intersected, she took note of the differing thickness and densities, trying to ascertain where the metals came from.

She also checked the hilt wrappings, seeing if the leatherwork was from any place she knew. Why would this be? If the demons from Damascus and Japan didn't happen, maybe some sort of demonic ritual. She turned the page to demonic rituals of transmutation. If it wasn't there, she looked up ritual implements to see if there was some sort of related instrument.
