Yes, using physics to show that this trick couldn't work is ridiculous. But trying to come up with a way that it could work, given as little physics-tweaking as possible, is fun. The first is nerdy pedantry, the second nerdy amusement.

Also, the thought of Durkon's player frantically arguing acoustics with the DM is kind of funny in itself.
