    Umber snorted slightly Really? You figured it out? I wonder. I've had -and heard- all sorts of theories on that one over the years, and none of them has ever fully satisfied me. Out of curiosity, is your answer the one regarding free-will issue? specifically, that if the gods eliminated suffering they would be eliminating the capacity of mortals to make their own decisions?

    Umber shrugged In any case... I prefer my theory - that the gods are creatures of vast, but limited power. They're not perfect - merely more potent beings than we, and of a different order. Their actions are based on the furtherance of their goals and interests, just like anything else's
