The magic is only used to create a strong magnetic repulsion. They shouldn't be able to get near him. In fact, as he walks out the door of the infirmary, any metal objects such as beds will probably shift and move away from him. He's too depressed to even call back an insult at Fan.

I have nothing of the sort coming at me. I assume it is Tobias whom these rays are directed at. If they are directed at me I assure you that they will be unsucessful. I would really prefer to get some sort of coherent idea on what these things are, but right now I believe Tobias can simply avoid them by turning a corner after walking out the infirmary door.

you have the strong magnetic force which works on alloys, or substances with a electrical current running through them of some strength.... This includes even water, and magnetic metals.
