I have to write an email to a minor member of the British peerage. His name card reads, "The Honourable John Smith*". Does anyone have a grasp of the etiquette here, or should I just be totally casual and address him as, "Dear John"?
(According to wiki, if I was writing a letter I should put "The Hon." on the envelope, but ... email.)
