Stomach acid is worse and we got that inside us for our entire lives, the only part of our skeletons that comes in contact with what we drink is our teeth thus the rest is out of danger (it heals too).
Besides Cola don't damage your teeth that much (if it was as dramatic as you said the I wouldn't have any left) and the parts of the rest of the body that comes into contact with it is capable of dealing with real acid (some people can eat metal) not just some half-sour drink that can't even melt anything (I remember myth-busters testing it with raw pig flesh, it got brown coloured but not much else after one month of submerging in it, now imagine how little it would do to living regenerating flesh in the few seconds it touches it)
