dissolve to gunk when flesh is merely cool,
between the dents of bone, a sallow pool,
a chemist's glaze upon a greasy spoon--
unworthy fat to sizzle in your fire!
I put aside the fabricated spread,
unworthy item for your skin or bed,
and daub with something better to admire.
Expensive? Yes, for purity is dear.
Cut square like diamonds, this adorns your skin,
now glossy cream, its center cupping in,
now, melting, sliding down, a white-flecked smear.
Uncork the bottle, fold the wrapper's foil;
when butter fails to cling, it's time for oil.
