I've also heard it suggested that because of the way heels make a woman's (or a man's, for that matter) calf muscles look different, it suggests 'fleeing beast' to some 'predatory' aspect of the male (or 'attracted to womenfolk' anywho) psyche.

Of course, that could also just be a load of old dingo's kidneys.

I always thought it had something to do with pushing up the gluts. Kind of pointless, when you consider how fantasy artists draw T&A anyway...
