That would be "animal companion". And I think it's pretty obvious; Belkar even uses Mr. Scruffy for assistance in battle!

But yes, that "sick of dead weight" comment makes the odds for Blackwing - Qarr drop by quite a margin.

Qarr works for Sabine's superiors. I'm not sure how much of a choice Nale would have in the matter.
