That's how it goes. If you have an average MAT but an excellent interview, the MAT doesn't impact it. The exam is the tipping point on the scales really.
If you do get accepted for interview, I could put you in touch with one of my friends whose subiect is closest to yours, so they can talk to you about the interview experience if you like.
Personally, I'd say that when you get asked to interview, you should relax and enioy it.
The want to find out what you know, and then push you to find out how you can deal with what you
don't know based upon existing knowledge.
The time you'll be up for interview is fun.
