Tethys
Putting a hand to her face, Tethys stumbles as she comes out of the dance's trance. "What are you-" Murmuring to herself, she cuts it off mid sentence as something seems to draw her attention. Still under the effects of Alain's spell, she dashes off to the south. Will be edited by Ryuuk : Sometime in the future.

Kathoplizo
Seeing the larger band arrive, with the leader and hound, Kathiplizo flies up about twenty feet and towards them about thirty. Bowing his head in prayer and reaching out with his icon, Kathoplizo sends out a blast of light towards the leader. Meanwhile, the force halberd hacks the hobgoblin again.

Re: Eberron: The Red Hand of Doom IC
Though injured, Arianna spins her blades in a dizzying manuever that the hobgoblins have no chance of following, let alone blocking. The first gets his skull cleaved in, and the other has his stomach and throat opened. Without any target, Dawn is let to her own devices.
Tethys moves cautiously towards the farmhouse, the door of which has long since rotted away, but a horrible monstrosity launches at her in a flurry of teeth and gray-green fur as soon as she steps near to the threshold. Being ready for trouble you are barely able to pull yourself back as the gigantic jaws snap within an inch of your weapon arm. The creature stalks in front of you, having been thwarted, alternating between two-legged and four legged pacing. It's muscles bulge unnaturally with strength and it clutches it's fore-claws menacingly whenever they are free.
"You'll make an excellent meal," it's voice is low like a deep-throated growl but heavily accented in the goblin tongue, "The pickings have been far too meager lately!"
Back with the main group, Traeth aims her arm and with pinpoint precision sends a spear-like burst of light far down the path to score the hell hound across it's shoulder, eliciting a howl. Kathoplizo flaps upwards ad sends a brilliant blast of golden light that catches the leader right in the chest as he bounds forwards, but the big hobgoblin simply slaps away the flames and continues to run forwards.
Luckily for the planetouched Kathoplizo, Alain's burst of noxious gasses burst upwards just ten feet from him, enough for the winged cleric to maneuver. Unluckily, the burst obscures the warband form everyone's sight but Tethys. It doesn't seem like they've noticed her yet, as their attention is focused on the cloud now.
SpoilerExtra Actions
Tethys gets an AoO on the invisible creature, and Dawn can have a full turn of actions since given that your intended action was taken off the menu when Arianna finished those hobbos off.
Terrain:
Due to the road being dug a few feet down into the earth, it will cost double movement to move from the road into the trees. Essentially, treat the incline as difficult terrain up until O12 and O17, that's the darker section of the road. The yellowed squares are affected by the Stinking Cloud spell for this round and 4 more, and provides concealment to anyone with 5 feet between them and another creature, and total concealment for anything beyond that.
Here's the map.

Tethys
Tethys hesitates, but at the end decides to lash out at the passerby, he'd only been murmuring so far, she just prayed that he wasn't the screamer. Please... guide my hand... She aims high and lunges forward with a thrust.
As the jaw snaps, Tethys feels a cold chill run down her spine as she tries to understand just what she ran into. Still, she keeps her head, it would be better then facing that entire warband. She lunges at the beast, geting just close enough to whisper at his side. "Lets see you try then..."After her sword flashes through the air, she wastes no time in getting out of there. She tries to move faster then the claws can follow and runs around the house.

Re: Eberron: The Red Hand of Doom IC
Tethys' quick strike at the invisble creature strikes only air, but a voice barks out in an angry tone of goblin after the lunge.
"Dalaan shagaan or maar Buanaar. Ach A dech Uth-Lar draach der daan kaan."
Spoiler"Take care of her Buanaar! Uth-Lar and I will deal with the rest."
Arianna drinks a potion, mending the few wounds that she's taken so far and moves around the edge of the cloud. Dawn moves to follow her, backing her up at the edge of the cloud and seemingly preparing herself.
Behind the cloud, you can hear orders barked out and a long howl from the centre of the cloud, presumably from the hound.
Though Tethys is quick enough on her feet to slip under the creature's reach and give it a quick stab it simply bounds after her, growling with a strange note of pleasure.
"Yes, wound me! Prove your worth," the face shifts into one of a bugbear with long canines, "Show me that consuming you will be worth the effort!"
It's form seems to flicker for a moment, and then it blinks out of view in front of Tethys, only to reappear and disappear yet again.
Traeth builds another burst of energy in his hands just as Kathoplizo flaps around the edge of the cloud to get into view of the hobgoblin leader. As he comes around the edge of the cloud he sees four hobgoblin warriors, much like the ones he helped dispatch earlier, with longswords and steel kite shields with the symbol of a crimson, talon-fingered hand obscuring a yellow sun. Just as he is about to send a mental command to his spiritual weapon a hobgoblin in heavy bands of steel thrusts appears from nowhere, thrusting a small wooden representation of the same hand out towards the aasimar.
"Dhaach ghuukaar! Kaar daan Mac shor o!"
Spoiler"Fall, monster! Let the Hand clutch you!"
Immediately it feels as if his wings have become rigid, and Kathoplizo has to tighten his mind against the torpor threatening to send him crashing to the earth. With but a moment, he proves himself to be greater than the hobgoblin's spell, and he is able to send his spell to strike a blow against the leader.
Alain, grinning away as he hears the hell hound enter the cloud, lobs a sticky mass into it. An angry howl sound from inside as strands of vines and creepers stretch out towards the edges of the fog.
SpoilerTerrain:

Re: Eberron: The Red Hand of Doom IC
Arianna and Dawn seize the moment to run around the edge of the cloud together to get closer to the warband, which to their eyes appears to have split up. The caster and the warband leader both run at Dawn and Arianna each, moving to coordinate their strikes against the two women. Unfortunately they seem to be off in their cadence, and even though the caster's mace glows with a deep crimson light for a moment before his swing, both of them are completely off the mark. At the northwestern edge of the cloud Alain and Traeth can see two of the shield bearers moving towards them. Two voices begin cursing from the eastern edge of the cloud, but one slips into a coughing wreck before too long.
An angry growl sounds from within the cloud and a burst of red light flares out the southern side of the cloud, and the hound bounds out from the cloud with burning vegetation still looped around it. Twisting it's head around, it charges towards Alain and Traeth.
The wolf-creature lunges at Tethys with it's front paws outstretched and maw gaping. The creature's jaw bites down on her arm, bruising through the chain before she can shake it off. Traeth's two blasts hit the caster soundly, the second slipping past Dawn to strike at him even through the chaos of the melee. Alain's spell goes off without hinderance, causing a translucent set of plate to materialize around him and his doubles.

The conjurer sees the Hell Hound charging down toward him and seems preparing to act when it arrives.
SpoilerThe Hell Hound is moving before me every round (I hate low initiative rolls), so it will probably charge down on me this round before I can do anything. What I will do is wait til it gets to me and before it attacks, jaunt back 10' (to E4), then cast Caltrops (Spell Compendium: 42). If my information is correct, I can seed the 5' square in front of me (F5) with caltrops, plus the square in front of that (G6) and the one the hell hound should be standing in (H7). The caltrops will attack it with a +2 if it is in or enters any of those squares, and if it is hit, it will take 1 damage and cut its movement in half - if it is still charging it must stop.
p.s. It didn't miss my notice that the hell hound is in K9. ;)Last edited by Wiz; 2009-01-05 at 12:50 PM.

Re: Eberron: The Red Hand of Doom IC
Kathoplizo swoops down from his elevated position to hack at the caster while Uth-Lar parries the blow from his spiritual weapon. His strike just barely catches the hobgoblin, but it draws his attention enough for Arianna to counter-attack.
Pitting her ancestral weapon against her people's most hatred foes, Arianna spins her double scimitar over her wrists and delivers a stunning three-pronged attack. Her first blow cuts deeply into Uth-Lar's right shoulder, and before the hobgoblin can counter she twists her shoulders to wrench it out and spin the backhand deep into his stomach. As the hobgoblin falls to his knees with a look of disbelief on his face, the elf ranger spins once more to snap the main blade straight through Zarr's neck.
Dawn... celebrates, blasting one of her dragonmarked powers straight into the air.
The two hobgoblins skirting the cloud make progress towards Alain and Traeth, but it's the hell hound that makes the real attack, running forwards with smoke huffing from it's jaws with each stride and whip-tail poising to strike. The hound leaps towards the middle of the Alains, and makes a bite at one of them, it's jaws closing down with perfect aim at the images groin before the wizards blink back several feet in response. The tail whips straight at Traeth, seemingly independent of the hound's own movements and the little kenku barely avoids the sweeping blow. From inside the cloud more coughing can be heard, along with the sound of one of the hobgoblins loosing his stomach, while the red glow grows as the fire spreads along the strands of vegetation.
Tethys continues to fight the wolf-creature, and despite the arcane protection it wove around itself, her sword strikes twice in rapid succession, driving into it twice in the shoulder and frosting over the wounds.
Growling, it moves to slash at her again, but then coc ks its head to the side as if testing something and smiles.
"Haha... hahahaha! Wonderful, wonderful! Uth-Lar and Zarr are dying! Your friends are powerful as well little meat."
It backs up a few steps and begins shifting, it's bones crunching to accommodate it's new bipedal form and fur melting back into dark green-brown skin until a massive seven foot tall bugbear with long canines stands in front of the binder.
"I would tear your throat out and feast, little meat, but your friends won't be far behind," his lips curl back into a great grin, "and it wouldn't be fair if my brothers didn't know about such a feast."
It waves it's hand and disappears.
Meanwhile, Traeth backs away from the hound, the starlock blasting it's side with sparkling energies that sear into it's hide.
Seeing that no one immediately needs help but Alain and Traeth, Kathoplizo flaps his wings and flies with abandon at the hound, spearing it neatly through the spine, sending it falling with a whine to the ground. The dark tentacle slaps at the corpse of the hound a few times before detaching itself and falling limply to the ground, where it begins to shiver.
Alain, with no immediate peril, shrugs and starts to rethink what he had planned...
SpoilerTerrain:
Due to the road being dug a few feet down into the earth, it will cost double movement to move from the road into the trees. Essentially, treat the incline as difficult terrain up until O12 and O17, that's the darker section of the road. The gray squares are affected by the Stinking Cloud spell for this round and 3 more, and the Web spell for 50 minutes, and provides concealment to anyone with 5 feet between them and another creature, and total concealment for anything beyond that. The red squares are no longer affected by Web, having been burned out by fire.
Here's the map.

Re: Eberron: The Red Hand of Doom IC
Tethys
A cold sweat starts to run down the side of Tethys' face. As she sees the bugbear change, the wound on her left arm takes a new, much more dire meaning. As her opponent disappears, she grits her teeth and tightens the grip on her sword. "Little meat...!?" In a fit of rage, she lashes out at the space the beast occupied, lunging madly. "Fine! Bring your whole family, it won't make a difference! I'll still slash your throat before you lay another finger on me!"
Her hand shaking, she picks up the scroll she'd dropped before and in the relative silence, listens to her heartbeat as it pounds against her chest.

Re: Eberron: The Red Hand of Doom IC
Just as Arianna and Dawn reposition themselves closer to the casters the two warriors square their shields and step up to Arianna and Kathoplizo to attack each of the adventurers. Arianna doesn't even have to bat the hobgoblins blade aside as the warrior trips and nearly drops his sword, and Kthoplizo blocks his foes strike to retaliate with one of his own, which cuts a shallow wound along one arm.
Still wary, Tethys stabs her sword into the space that the creature occupied a second ago but her strike meets only air. Traeth backs up towards the tree-line and even though he has trouble aiming his eldritch blast through the new melee the burst strikes the hobgoblin that Kathoplizo wounded on the side of his head, burning through the flesh to show white bone before he drops to the ground.
Though Alain's repeating crossbow is a masterful piece of engineering his skill with it isn't quite up to the task, as both of the bolts that he fires bury themselves in a hobgoblins shield. Back to the east, the cloud of noxious gasses begins to dissapate, much to the delight of the two hobgoblins trapped in the webs and reeling. Their delight quickly turns to terror as they see the fire bearing down on them for the first time.
"Uth-Lar maach da...," they look over to see the crumpled form of Uth-Lar on the ground, "*Cough* *Cough* Uth-Lar daan rhakhaan an kuun! Khakaar!"
Spoiler"Uth-Lar help us... The battle is lost! Cough Cough Uth-Lar is dead. Retreat!"
The lone standing hobgoblin facing five of the adventurers suddenly gets a haunted look on his face.
"Dar?!"
Spoiler"What?!"
