Re: Crystal Legacy Chapter 1
fourth attempt to post this... I need to take the improved web feat to veiw this site apperently.
Massive Thanks to Thrawn for the play by play. I'm going to assume that Dolminit used his single standard for a std charge, which kills 1 orc then and there. Kerlian also gets the kill off in the surprise round (with a charging sneak attack?)
There is one more orc that gets a round, and they are going to attack Teppy, and miss (I rolled a 2 at home. I needed to know the die result weeks ago, and getting the forums to do it just takes more time...)
This last orc is then going to fail their will save (because that it what melee types do. They fail will save) to the color spray and (unless I am mistaken on the effects of color spray) is now unconscious.
I know I must seem like the worst DM ever, but it takes me the better half on an hour just to post

Re: Crystal Legacy Chapter 1
[occ:I think i jinked my self when i said the fourms where better, also why did i bother with that extra action]
Hmmm, well that was easier than I though it would be...not that I mind that of course.
So what shall we do with this orc? Killing it would be the safest course.Last edited by Androgeus; 2009-02-09 at 06:25 PM.

Re: Crystal Legacy Chapter 1
"CRAACK" goes a loud sound as Dolminit finishes off the unconscious orc.
"I'm sorry, Androgeus ... what were you saying?"

Re: Crystal Legacy Chapter 1
Iota decides to break that long, awkward silence that seems to pop up when you try and talk to people that don't exist within the campaign's multiverse.
Well ... that was easier than I expected.
<Dismiss Produce Flame.>
So ... how about those caves, then?

Re: Crystal Legacy Chapter 1
Chuck appears to have fallen off of the face of the earth, utterly pissed with our ISP. He hasn't even worked on our comic for weeks. He said I can try to run his campaigns, with all three sentences of his notes.
The thing you were fighting before is dead and everyone is level three. Let me see how many people are still in, and then I will have something drawn up.

Re: Crystal Legacy Chapter 1
Sorry, I am still here, just this past week nearly killed me, first set of mid-terms, a bunch of due assignments and work deciding to call me in when I also have class in the evening leading to fun leaving the house at 8am and getting back home at 11pm days.
Well they're why we're here in the first place. Come on everybody this will be FUN!

It's max hitpoints per level lostsole.
yes.. getting attacked by brawn-bound creatures is "fun". Lets get in to these caves, I bet there's more "fun" awaiting us."Three blokes walk into a pub. One of them is a little bit stupid, and the whole scene unfolds with a tedious inevitability." - Bill Bailey

Re: Crystal Legacy Chapter 1
Before the party can see the orcs, they can hear them. And maracas. A small party appears to be going on in the room with a fire burning in the center (you can feel the heat and smell the smoke). The party can also smell something so trully foul, your nasal cavities are trying to commit sepuku with a frisbee.
The scene is behind a bend. How does the party proceed?

Re: Crystal Legacy Chapter 1
For the purposes of spell recharge ... how many rounds/ minutes went by as we conducted our out-of-combat denoument of the last battle?

Re: Crystal Legacy Chapter 1
Thanks for the update, neoseph.
Dolminit will cast shield of faith on himself (AC 17, t 17, f 15) and will delay his move action to fall in behind the group.

Re: Crystal Legacy Chapter 1
Lessee ... Iota will have Sable heel as he (and presumably the rest of the party) approach(es) the bend. If whatever's on the other side looks both hostile and killable (and is within 50 feet), he'll order Sable to attack the closest enemy while he casts Bane.
Initiative: (1d20+1)[6]
Sable's Bite: (1d20+3)[18] Damage: (1d6+1)[6]
Sable's free trip attempt (if bite hits): (1d20+1)[21]
Clr 1 Recharge: (1d6+1)[6]
Iota's HP: 24/24, AC 12, touch 11, ff 11
Sable's HP: 20/20, AC 14, touch 12, ff 12
Bane: Enchantment (Compulsion), Fear, Mind-Affecting
All enemies within 50 feet take -1 to attack rolls and saving throws vs. fear effects for 3 minutes (30 rounds). Will DC 15 negates.
If we're in a no-magic zone ... crossbow instead of Bane.
Attack: (1d20+3)[19] Damage (1d6+1)[2]

Re: Crystal Legacy Chapter 1
Magic Zones? Oh. Right. He mentioned that... Sort of.
There are 12 orcs behind the bend sitting and singing around a fire. They seem to be slathering some kind of fungus onto themselves, and this is the source of the foul stench.
Everyone make move silently checks (unless you arent moving) and whoever is peeking around the corner, please make a hide check (+2 for cover).
Knowing what is on the other side, do you still run in and attempt to fight?

Re: Crystal Legacy Chapter 1
A shame you can't see potential crits coming before you hit "Submit Reply." Again, provided this is a no-magic zone (so that Iota fires his crossbow instead of casting), a threat roll: (1d20+3)[16]
A successful crit bumps the damage up to 4.

Re: Crystal Legacy Chapter 1
Let's see if I can manage to post this this time ... (forum died on my end just after I saw neoseph's reply). Really is a shame you can't edit rolls into posts, though I understand why not.
Move Silently: (1d20+1)[17]
Hide (unless someone else wants to go first): (1d20+3)[18]
Incidentally, I assume that this is the only way through the tunnel? No side paths leading around the tribal-ritual-performing orcs?
I think our odds are considerably higher if Kerlian is still with us, and if this is a magic zone. Him being the one that can (almost) completely wipe out everything in a 15-foot cone as a standard action every 1d6+1 rounds, after all. That could be, like, half of them down in the first round.

Re: Crystal Legacy Chapter 1
Dolminit
Initiative = (1d20+2)[21], actions as below: shield of faith, then delay move action.
No Hide/ MS since he has not advanced on the orc position but is holding back as a 'reserve force' both to allow Kerlian to flambeau the piggies, and to respond to needed healing.

Re: Crystal Legacy Chapter 1
Man I am so annoyed, I spent ages on a post last night and then it refused to post. And now Iota has a decent hide check that I don't particularly want to negate.
Screw it. Here's Teppy's action.
Teppy quietly draws her crossbow and peers around the corner
Move Silently(1d20+3)[15]
Hide(1d20+5)[10]
She puts a hand on Iota's bow and shakes her head, whilst returning her crossbow to its resting place. She then holds both hands up palm forwards, followed by two fingers. She then makes claws with her hands and bares her teeth. Finally she rubs her arms and then holds her nose.
Perform(charade)(1d20+3)[15]
SpoilerMan, I hope this pays off, super double extra now. If she rolls a 1 I'll be a annoyed I went to all the trouble of writing that out for nothing (although pretty please synergy bonus from perform(dance)? It's all interpretive movement). Trying to describe a mime in words is like translating a translation. Assuming she doesn't fail miserably, she was trying to communicate 12, orcs/monsters, covering in smelly.

Re: Crystal Legacy Chapter 1
... Wait, what?
*rereads what just happened in the previous dozen posts like eleven times just so he can be sure that it says what he thinks it says, dismiss the implausibility of it saying what he thinks it says, then get reminded that it actually says what he thought it said in the first place*
Iota looks down at his (apparently) suddenly-unloaded crossbow, then up at the corpse by the campfire, then down at the crossbow, then at Teppy, then at the seemingly-oblivious orcs, then at Sable (who is apparently now lurking in the shadows behind said corpse), then down at his crossbow again, then at Dolminit, then at the corpse again, then at Spiro, then at the orcs again.
He whispers "What in the Nine Hells are those orcs on that they didn't notice that?" to the party, then shrugs, loads another bolt, and aims at the next orc down the line. Instead of firing, however, he hesitates, turns back to the party, and whispers "Shall we?"
Also, Knowledge (Nature) to try and identify the 'shrooms from here: (1d20+12)[17]

Re: Crystal Legacy Chapter 1
The mushrooms are a variety of halucinogenic, often shuned by civilized society for health reasons, though that doesn't mean much when the average life span of a populous is based on how quickly adventurers clear an area rather than biological clocks. The Shrooms are called Vloxlespazz.
