Re: ABR Discussion Thread XVI: Matters of Futures Imperfect
Blast, why do you keep posting this bleeding pile of nonsensical garbage in this thread ? It clutters the message board and it covers the important datum with a foul stench ! It keeps adding more and more pages ! Let us stop this blasted banter and start posting relevant, on-topic... posts !
No comment on my pre-Cataclysm map sketch ? I assume it's because it's good.

Re: ABR Discussion Thread XVI: Matters of Futures Imperfect
Yes, the map is good. It helps in understanding the power of cataclysm. Maybe we should post the linkto it in the Avbaroy wiki section, just as a curiosity? Or maybe do some kind of animation, showing pre cataclysm Avbaroy turning directly to post cataclysm Avbaroy and put that in the cataclysm article on wiki? But that would be a lot of work.
Anyway, since I think hardly anyone has noticed it, I am reposting my FI character bio:
Spoiler
avy is the picture
Name: Kazul, son of Krutek
Nickname: Dragonslayer
Race: former orc, currently undead [I'm sure there is a template for that somewhere in BoVD... you know, not the skele one, but the other one]
Class: extremaly high level warrior, but not epic yet
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Side: ALF
SpoilerBackstory:
- born in 870 AC to Krutek, leader of one of the most powerful orcish tribes - tribe of Devouring Fire
- in 887, queen Sildyu murdered his father, tricking him to believe it wasn't her, but Ielmiog, a purple dragon, hiding somewhere in Bloodlands so efectively, that she couldn't manage to find him in her quest to slaughter every single purple dragon in the world
- Kazul swored venegance. Being new tribe leader, he united under his reign the rest of great tribes and with his best warriors started a long journey to Bloodlands
- in 890, they finally managed to find and kill Ielmiog and came back to Grand Tusk Plains...
- ...where Kazul realised that he is no longer a leader. New leader (who actually got this position with help and approval of Sildyu) banishes him and few of his most loyal soldiers.
- in 892, Kazul founded dragon slaying group. Other founders and generals were gnomish enineer Ranzwicket Peyew, periclan marksman Teon "Goldenshot" Maen and arcanian mage Mecacer Saiwan
- the group soon became more powerful and by the year 895 they had become the strongest enemy of Moonelf Empire, although they still weren't aware of that - in they belief, they were just killing random dragons
- everything changed in the beginning of 895, when the group managed to get in trap and kill one of the most loyal dragon of Sildyu, yellow dragon called Iobboiz. The battle took place on the teritory of Grand Tusk Plains and led directly to attacking and conquering them by Sildyu few weeks later. During the battle, Goldenshot got wounded in his legs and poisoned badly, which makes walking on his own almost impossible. Also, most importantly, entire four got marked by a spell and became targets for entire Sildyu army. In addition, the battle took place on the teritory of Grand Tusk Plains and led directly to attacking and conquering them by Sildyu few days later.
- after battle one of the slaves of Iobboiz, ex periclan soldier, told army generals about current world situation.
- friends rapidly realised the danger they and their army are in. The army got disbanded, and four generals went to nearby watchtower, waiting calmly for their certain deaths. In the meanwhile, Ranziwcket puts gunpowder in entire tower, making it ready for detonation.
- just few hours before arrival od Dragon Empire armies, Mecacer discovered letter Iobboiz was writing to Sildyu. The letter was about ways of conquering Arcania. Iobboiz wrote in it that the easiest way to conquer her would be by betrayal of one of the higher ranked civil servants
- after reading the letter, Mecacer got really furious, scared and, to be honest, snapped off. He realised his beloved homeland is in grave danger and that he, due to the marking spell, isn't even avalaible to warn her. Hovewer, suddenly he got an idea.
- he realized the marking spell works only until the death of subject. So he killed Kazul and resurrected him as an undead. He told him to go to Arcania, tell Arcanians about the danger and protect them as long and as good as he can
- and so Kazul left the tower and his friends. He hid in the nearby and at dark cut himself a path through enemy dragons. In the same time, Mecacer casted Maximized Greater Fireball and destroyed tower and themselfs. Few dragons also died in the explosion.
- unfortunately, when Kazul got to Arcania city it was already besieged. He was killing every lone dragon or group of soldier he could reach, but surely that had hardly any influence on the battle.
- after the fall of Arcania, Kazul was travelling all around the isle in hopeless search of survivors of the siege. Of course he didn't find anyone.
- during the frozening of Arcania by Dragon Empire, he got accidentally frozen and has been inprison in the block of ice ever since.
Reasons to be member of resistance:
- good friend of him told him to protect Arcania and Arcanians and Lying is the only alive Arcanian he is aware of
- he had been frozen for five centuries, every friend or relative of him is long time dead, plus he knows almost nothing about modern world
- he feels that the UNA world won't be really happy with existance of grumpy, undead orc warrior in their perfect world, while in the resistance he isn't even the strangest person
- he has been fighting for his entire life and the war with sovices is the only actual war, so...
edit: need to work on writing speed, because as far as I see the subject of discussion has been already changedLast edited by Kazul; 2008-12-29 at 04:30 PM.

Hey, if most of Avbaroy is in Industrial Revolution phase, does this mean the pressing social issues of that era are present?

Re: ABR Discussion Thread XVI: Matters of Futures Imperfect
Well, the reason will be explained more properly explained in my FI introduction comic, but despite what he says in public, Lyle is only truly loyal to Amarnea. They existed as a nation for 1500 years before the UNA came along, and he feels that they can do fine, even better, without it. He had a high standard of living as a child, and Amarnea's politics are designed to allow a few to profit from the labours of many, so he doesn't understand the UNA's humanitarian actions.
He hopes that the resulting power vacuum from the UNA's downfall would allow Amarnea to rise to a position of greatness, but he's not hugely optimistic about that. Besides, working for the UNA, he's bound to have seen a few suspect things about the Sovices, right?

Re: ABR Discussion Thread XVI: Matters of Futures Imperfect
I didn't see the film, but I read a few spoilers about it. I don't think it's comparable to the United Nations of Avbaroy. This organisation used peaceful means to ally the nations of the world and prevents famine, decease and war. It's only when learning of the its real purpose that someone could oppose it, but only the Resistance and the Sovice know about it.
Again, how ?
^Shinobi strike again !
So it's nationalism ? I understand. But you should know that it's nigh impossible for someone working in the UNA to know about the Sovice's true motives. They would either kill the person (unlikely) or send him to Schizotec to be... hum... the subject of less than ethical experiments.Last edited by Mad Mask; 2008-12-29 at 04:37 PM.

Re: ABR Discussion Thread XVI: Matters of Futures Imperfect
Could you answer my question, MM? The reason I want to know is that I am thinking of creating an FI character who is working for the UNA, namely the Avbaroy version of UNICEF.
