Chris does as Isaiah says.
"78% of DM's started their first campaign in a tavern. If you're one of the 22% that didn't, copy and paste this into your signature."
I really haven't. The players quickly move to the tavern after the campaign starts but they never start there. Even the three which have taken place in a city.

Re: Kierce: Jacob's Crossing
Val stares at Isaiah incredulously. You want us to go into the woods, at night, to investigate screaming noises? Just because you're crazy doesn't mean the rest of us are. Screw this, I'm heading to the inn. Chris, Devon, Cully come on. Val starts walking back in the direction of the inn, slowly as he waits for the others to follow.

Chris looks between Isaiah and Val then decides that the woods are scary at night and follows Val.

Re: Kierce: Jacob's Crossing
Isaiah turned back at Val's words and starred in disbelief as his friends abandoned him to the cold woods. Visibly showing his frustration, he turned to his friends Cully and Devon I don't know about the two of you, but my Father didn't raise a coward who would abandon someone in need. Yeah its scary, but I dont plan on sitting my arse in this town for the rest of my life scared of the world, because it's NOT a nice place. He shot one last pleading glance at his two friends, noticeably disheartened. He turned to the woods, and slowly disappeared.

Re: Kierce: Jacob's Crossing
Val looks over his shoulder to see Isaiah disappear into the woods and does and abrupt about face. Damn it Isaiah, get back here! Val loudly whispers. Receiving no reply he sighs and grits his teeth. Fine. Damn you. Let's do what the idiot says. Val gets on his stomach and starts crawling into the woods after Isaiah.
PS. I think we should stop posting as Isaiah and Valierion until everyone else has posted.Last edited by Darkfalle; 2009-01-16 at 12:34 AM.

Cully pulls out his stick, waving it in front oh himself, and starts to follow after Isaiah. He turns his head towards everyone behind and says in a hushed tone "I don't know about you guys, but my curiosity is outweighing my fear. There's 5 of us! c'mon!"

Re: Kierce: Jacob's Crossing
Devon stares after his friends, considering the situation. Isaiah's words have little effect on him as per usual he finally makes his decision based on his own experience and impulses. He quickly and quietly crosses the ground between where he is standing and the woods, catching up to Isaiah. It is difficult for his friends to tell what he is thinking, the only outward sign of nervousness is the death grip he has on his dagger. He nods to his friends when he catches up to them then surveys the scene in the woods.

Chris: (1d20+1)[12]

Isaiah: (1d20+5)[7]
Valierion: (1d20+2)[3]
Val, you loose your orientation in the dark wood. The reviled red glow of the Black Moon gives you a nauseating headache in such an ancient place, amongst the gnarled and twisted boughs. Their creaking despair fills your head, reverberating till nothing is left... It only lasts a moment, but you were unable to notice anything in the real.
What is with all these crit fails?! lol
Devon amongst the soft red light, your eyes sharpen and notice a lump on a nearby deer trail. You caught it by a small glitter of metal, probably a cloak clasp or a coin. Cully, you catch Devon's eye and you both realize you've spotted the same thing.
Cully immediately begins to walk toward the person lying on the floor to try and help them.
From the brush to left, there is a deep rumbling that builds slowly for a moment, but only from a moment. With savage and rabid ferocity, a huge furry beast breaks out from brush, sending twigs and branches flying.
After a brief moment, you recognize the form of a bear charging at you with the clear intent to kill. The odd thing is that it seems to have glowing green eyes...Last edited by AngelAndrius; 2009-01-16 at 08:17 PM.

Re: Kierce: Jacob's Crossing
Isaiah's arrow sinks deeply into the shoulder of the bear. The beast screams in feral rage and spares a moment to try and snap at the arrow embedded in its flesh. But in a split second, the fierce green eyes fixate on Isaiah, filling his mind to the point where nothing else exists.
The bear charges Isaiah, seemingly unimpeded by the forest floor. With a great feral roar, the bear half rears and with one great burly paw swipes at Isaiah's fragile head.

Cully runs up wildly to the bear and attempts to switch it across the face. The bear, moving faster than you expect is able to dodge and move its hairy head out of the way of his blow.

Re: Kierce: Jacob's Crossing
Val stares astonished at the form of the charging bear as Isaiah lets loose an arrow into the bear and only breaks out of trance once the bear has successfully dodged Cully's stick. He shakes himself out of it and begins to chant the words to a spell.
Honestly, I'm not really sure how the spellcasting mechanic works in 3.5, so I'll just tell you I'm casting sleep at the bear.

Re: Kierce: Jacob's Crossing
Vals instinctual arcane powers spring forth in defense of his friend. Chris thoughtfully notices this as an abnormally unstructured way of casting a spell. The arcane forces seem to flow like a wild mountain stream from him.
The bear pauses as Val's spell sinks in.

Re: Kierce: Jacob's Crossing
Devon attempts to thrust his dagger into the bear's flank, but at the instant the bear turns to focus on Val, Devon's strike sails through empty air.
I guess this happens now.
The structured almost mathematical spell manifests itself. The fear spell flys true like an arrow right to the heart of the beast.

Re: Kierce: Jacob's Crossing
(Okay, now to not screw up the friggin bbc code!)
Isaiah tumbled backwards from the force of the bear's blow. He someone managed to steady himself on his feet. He watched his friends attack the bear as he struggled to catch his breath. he watched the bear turn to face Val.
Isaiah took a few steps back from the bear, and notched another arrow, hoping to be able to finish the bear before it struck another one of his friends

Re: Kierce: Jacob's Crossing
Isaiah's arrow barely skims the head of the bear, tearing the scalp.
The full effects of Christopher's spell finally sink into the bear. With one feral scream the beast turns around and charges into the forest. You can't but help release a sigh of relief, letting go of the breath you didn't know you've been holding. For a moment at least, you all are safe.
