After getting Randy off to a quiet corner, Turtle sits down with him. "I don't know if anyone told you about Czernov." She hesitates a moment, then decides the blunt approach is the best. "He was murdered."

By who? When? I suppose that suspicion was correct; I hadn't seen him since I became my own size.

"I can't change anymore. But I don't think there's anything you can do. Can you change into a cat?"

"There's a man named Alek, a sociopath who is an insanely powerful psychic. We killed him once, but he managed to return to life by stealing Czernov's body. And Czernov's soul.... I was there when it happened. I felt it disappear. I don't think he can be brought back. So you might see someone that you think is Czernov, but it's not him. It's the monster who murdered him."

((ooc: Kael says that Czernov could be brought back, but Turtle doesn't think it's possible.))

[Reinholdt]

"I'm sorry about that ma'am. And I don't believe I can change into a cat ma'am. At least it's never been done in the Butler family before ma'am. Some rumors say we were bred like this ma'am, just to increase our appeal ma'am."

I think I've heard the name Alek thrown around once or twice. And you know I have no problem telling people apart.
If I see him, do I run, or try to trap the bastard's soul into something?

Decker giggles. "Do the girls in your family go without shirts too? That would increase their appeal."

"Running makes no difference. If he decides to mess with your mind, distance won't stop him. I hope you have good mental defences. If you have some way to trap his soul, that's great, but I'd prefer to destroy it." The normally forgiving Turtle, who wants to give everyone a chance at redemption, has made an exception for Alek. He is the one person she will never ever forgive for what he did to Melody.

I don't know how to destroy a soul, but as soon as my gun finishes channelling my psionic ability back to me, I'll go research on how to trap a person's soul. In fact, I'll do that now. At that, I walk off to the library.

[Reinholdt]

"Why yes, of course, ma'am. All Butler's refuse to wear shirts ma'am. It's pretty much a family law ma'am." Butler smiles. Not a silly grin, but just a normal friendly smile as if it's simply fact.

((Weren't expecting that, were ya?!))

[Morty]

Wenomir is patrolling the base, as usual.

Decker thinks this is hilarious, and giggles madly, then attempts to jump up on Butler to ride piggyback.

Turtle goes back to the infirmary to check on Darkcomet.

He's sitting up in the bed.

How did it go?

Butler catches her and holds on. He's not surprisingly pretty strong.
Wouldn't do to have shirtless Butlers that didn't work out, would it?

"Alright then ma'am." He starts running her around the room just to get a little speed. "Where would you like to go ma'am?"

"I don't know. He seemed awfully calm about it. But I think Alek will regret it if Randy finds him." Turtle says.

In the library, I try reading on the intricacies between consciousness and the existence of souls, but find the sentences don't make much sense. Not when every three words you read, you get distracted by thoughts of revenge and psionic torture.

What does he do anyway? I'm not familiar with him.

Referring to Randy.

[Reinholdt]

"Well you haven't eaten yet, have you ma'am? To the laundry room ma'am!" Butler dashes off with his bubbling friendly enthusiasm, carrying Decker on his back, heading to the laundry room.

This would probably be quite the sight to anyone who spots them.

"Randy is skilled in psionics. He's the one who taught me to use telepathy. I've never seen him use telekinesis as much as you too, but he manipulates sound waves. He's also a pilot. He's the one who built our airbase. As well as the supercollider in the basement."

Decker laughs and shrieks in fun as Butler runs, her cloak streaming out behind her.

Yet another psychic? Seems like everyone's psychic nowadays... Here I thought I was at least somewhat unique.

He sighs.

[Reinholdt]

Aww. Butler can't stop and put her down if she's having so much fun. "To the kitchen!" He'll take her to the kitchen, then the great room, then the library, and finally back to the laundry room if he's not stopped, running as fast as he can.

Torturing psions is easy. If I can genetically manufacture some sort of creature whose instincts and primal emotions are incredibly powerful, to the point it interferes with even basic complex thought, well, not much would be worse for a psion. But there's gotta be something worse...

I get up and keep looking through the library, and find some books on psionics of questionable morality...

((Help me think up some kind of horrible psionic torture. ))

In the library, Randy might find a few books about souls written by Tessa Camlar, former GLoG member. The publication dates on these books is well in the future. It seems she's quite the expert on them.

Of course the half dressed catboy running through with a devil swanmay on his back giggling wildly might be a bit of a distraction.

"Want something to eat?" Turtle asks DC, because her player can't think of anything less boring to say.

Wenomir looks at Butler giving Decker a ride with a really confused expression.

That would probably be a good idea. Especially after that...

DC looks down at the formerly-wounded leg.

Huh... Tessa wrote these... I mumble to myself, before some little terror bursts in.

I mute their sounds, but only so I can't hear them.

((Would her books on souls be more into how to destroy or torture them, or?))

((More on understanding their structure and mechanics. Tessa's not a torturer. If Randy ever makes his way to the Taverna, he'll find Tessa there.))

Turtle and Darkcomet head into the kitchen, where Turtle makes steak. "How do you like yours? Blood rare?"

Er... No, not bloody. I heard about the blood thing, you know.

Well, more accurately, he inferred it based on what Reinholdt said.

Butler runs past Wenomir. "GOOD DAY SIR!" He runs into the library with Randman, running up and down the aisles. No need to shout this time since he's still there and not passing by right away. "Good day sir!"

He'll run into the kitchen and spot Happy and DC. "Ah, hello, sir, ma'am." He'll stop and catch his breath a bit. He's strong but this is still hard work.

"So what, medium? Not well done, I hope. That's disgusting." "What did you hear?"

Decker is still giggling, but doesn't look at Darkcomet.

I take one book Tessa wrote off the shelf that seems to talk about the mechanisms that attach them to the material world. After that, I take one on the principles behind manipulating them once you've torn them from their vessels. And you can bet I'll be doing a lot of that to this Alek guy.

I wander into the kitchen as well, to find some lunch, after passing some pleasantly muted... children. I think. Imps, perhaps?

Medium is fine. Anyway, when the cat was here, he found a can of blood. He said there were vampires around, and judging by your recent sensitivity to sunlight, it doesn't take much to infer what's going on.

DC doesn't look at Decker either.
