GLoG 20/XX: Twenty Times the Awesome

Sam pops out of deadtime for a second. Er, no. Who's Mint? What does he want? This last is directed at Nil.

Dani takes a deep breath.
Mint...is Judy's fiancée. She shoots a slightly nervous (but still cute) glance at Sam, expecting what her reaction to that is going to be. And one of my friends.

[Morty]

Wenomir's wandering the base, humming and looking for someone who'd tell him what was going on while he was away.

Dani takes a deep breath.
Mint...is Judy's fiancée. She shoots a slightly nervous (but still cute) glance at Sam, expecting what her reaction to that is going to be. And one of my friends.

Sam, with the utmost care, keeps her expression bland. So this is very important to us. I wish he, she jerks her head at Nil, would tell us what the man wanted.

[Saint Nil]

He wanted Sam Goswell.

Nil begins to walk towards his office. Once i nside, he goes to his closet, and opens up a compartment in the back.

When he leaves the offfice, he is now wearing much bulker black armor under his white robe, but still loose enoguh to not impend movement or show too much beyond shoulder pads.

He looks towards Dani and Sam.

Do either of you wish too come. I swear to you, she will be returned safely.

Nil pulls out a scroll.

I'll divine her location and then she can be rescued.

Sam blinks in surprise and then sighs. Look, I can't even begin to tell you what a stupid idea that is. He wants me, so I go alone and get Mint back. I couldn't trace him, and I doubt your magic can. This guy is a professional, but so am I; I practically wrote the book on dealing with terrorists. My expert opinion is that we can't assume this guy is an amateur. I don't give a damn if you don't want to deal with him, we sit tight until he contacts us, I trade myself for Mint, I do whatever he wants, and I think I know exactly what he wants, and if I die you raise me. She draws her Glock and quickly inspects the magazine. Sir, this is, was, my job before I joined GLoG.

[The Bushranger]

I'm going with you! Dani looks determined. Aside from anything else I can teleport you out after we get Mint back!

Sam looks over at Dani and frowns. I will need somebody to take Mint home after I switch...

[The Bushranger]

I'll do it! Dani nods enthuiastically. Just let me get my stuff! She scampers off to her room to fill a backpack to the brim.

Sam covers her face in her hands for a few seconds, then regains her composure and sits down.

Dani returns, looking rather laden down with a backpack over her shoulders - and an appropriately-sized mace in one hand - and a surprisingly large gun strapped to her hip.

Seriously, the thing is almost bigger than she is.

Well, not really, but it sure looks oversized.

I'm ready whenever! she chirps, cutely.

Sam sizes her up and frowns. We still have to wait until he contacts us again. And... she sighs and looks away.

...I guess you do have a point there.
Dani shrugs off the backpack and leans it and the mace against a chair before dropping into it.
And what?

Sam scowls at the floor. I'd appreciate it if you'd at least pretend to not be eager to switch me for this Mint person.

Dani's eyes go wide and she shakes her head.
Oh no! I'm not eager like that at all. What I'm eager for is to get Mint back without losing you. She stands and walks over to put a hand on Sam's shoulder. That's my plan - to grab you back too before they can do anything for you. Basically to con them!

Sam stiffens slightly, but otherwise ignores the hand on her shoulder. It won't work. These are probably the same Spetsnz guys who want me to help them revive the Soviet Union. They'll just keep coming after me until I'm dead. She doesn't sound too unhappy about that either.

Dani frowns. Well... Dani sighs and sits on the arm of the chair. I guess letting them think they'd killed you would get them off your back and all. But...

But you'd rather they just killed me off anyways. Get rid of that cranky, homophobic bitch, huh? She's not angry, just sad. That self pity thing? Runs in the family.

Dani looks over at Sam a little wide-eyed.

Wide, misty eyes.

No! The opposite. I don't want you to die at all, Sam. If nothing else then you're my friend...

Sam forms an angry retort, but the eyes suddenly make her feel ashamed, and she looks down at the floor.

Dani hesitates, then leans over to give Sam a hug.

In a fashion such that it couldn't be contrued as anything other than one friend to another.

Sam is hugged, and after a moment hugs Dani back. I'm sorry...

Judy looks at Sam, then Dani. I would like to go, but I may put the mission in jeopardy. She says sadly. I... I would do anything to get Mint back. Anything at all. The two may detect a slight threat in what she's saying.

Faust undeadtimes and leaves his room, heading into the living room. He grabs a magazine and begins to read.

Sam sighs, getting annoyed. As the only one here with any experience in this sort of thing, I hereby put myself in command of this "mission". Order one: Calm the hell down. Order two: When that rat bastard next calls, find out when I can trade for Mint. Order three: No questions.

It's alright, Dani reassures Sam, then settles back and steps over to give Judy a reassuring hug. We'll get her back. I promise. And nobody's going to die if I can help it. She looks back at Sam as she says this.

[Morty]

Wenomir is around, having not heard the commotion made by Dani, Sam and Judy.

Vasilisa is sitting at the dining room table in the great room, studying mathematics. When she sees Wenomir, she stands up and curtseys.

"Good morning, Sir."

[Morty]

Wenomir smiles at the girl.
Good morning. Did something important happen while I was away? Everyone seems to be busy with something.

"I'm not sure. There was the sound of bells ringing, and I heard some people screaming, but I don't know what about." Vasilisa doesn't know what a telephone is yet.

"My name is Vasilisa, Sir. I haven't been here very long."
