GLoG XXIII: With malice towards none

Crimson sits up and looks after Irene in alarm. Slowly she puts the pieces together in her head- a strange man looking like that- Irene's glasses and what she said about her eyes...
Ah. Oh dear.
Unfortunately, Irene goes into deadtime, so she doesn't chase after her, instead just biting her lip and wondering what to do.

Thank you. Quinn smiles. Ah, if only she knew...


Dani notices the kitty entering, and turns to investigate. Noticing it's not a Russian Blue and therefore not Reinholdt, she relaxes a little.

[celtois]

Alexis looks at the pair she is talking too.... Ah how to lure one away.... Would you like some help. You appear to be unable to see.If you want I could take you to the kitchen you must be hungry if you've been in here so long.

Sage wanders towards Dani. Before trying to rub against her leg.

Quinn smiles and motions torwards Herbert the Drone. Well, I have my own seeing-eye drone, but I do need some food. I'd be happy to join you if you're heading that way.


Dani giggles a little and goes to pick up the friendly cat. Well aren't you cute, huh? Yes you are!
D'awww...

Chelonie goes into the garden just in time to see Dani pick up the cat.

The cat with a blue star.

"Dani, put the cat down please," she says, in the kind of calmly neutral tone that people tend to use when warning people to move slowly away from the poisonous snake.

[celtois]

Sage purrs and tries to rub his head against her arm. Before looking to see who thinks of him so poorly in this dimension already.

It should be noted that the cat is brown with black stripes.


I am heading that way, if your hungry I'll even make you something.

Real-life always seems to spring upon a person at the worst possible moments.

The Probe is still following Butler around, a ceaseless torrent of verbiage pouring from the thing's non-existent mouth. Objects. Animals. Plants. Alloys. Pretty much anything one could conceivably find within a quarter mile's distance from GLoG. And as mentioned before it shows no sign of stopping any time soon.

Meanwhile...

"Blast it all. Lost the little bugger. Do you have a fix on its location, Sal?" Regiji inquires of apparently no one.

Something about this place is garbling my scans. I'm still analyzing the interfearance to see if I can't compensate. The Probe is in the compound somewhere, but I can't say exactly.

"Wonderful. Someone will have probably beaten it to a pulp with a brick before we find it," the Scout grumbles as he continues his search for someone who might know a thing or two about local geography.

I'd appreciate that, thanks. Quinn smiles and carefully climbs out of bed, assisted by the faithful Dronebert. Lead the way, I'll catch up.




Dani starts to pet the cat's head, then looks up at Chelonie in startlement. Huh? How come? It's just a cat...

Crimson eventually gets out of the hot tub and towels herself off, putting on her little robe before heading off towards her room, trying to think of something to do to cheer Irene up or help her...
And then she comes across Regiji. Instantly she pauses, looking up at him.
"Oh! There you are. I lost track of you after I left infirmary..."

"Dani, trust me. Please."

The color is noted. She doesn't think it's Reinholdt.

Well, if you say so.
Shrugging, the overly cute redhead goes to put Sage down...

Alexis heads to the kitchen and starts working on some sandwiches.

Sage looks at Chel. He doesn't look happy.

Chelonie pulls out her 9mm and fires two shots, directly at the cat.

Dani virtually screams and jumps away in shock.
Happy!

Quinn somehow manages to miss the sound of shooting and makes her way to the kitchen as well, slowly, settling into a chair.

*Pop*

Sage attempts to dimension shift.


Alexis starts to make a bowl of soup as well.

"...and a gopher and some gopher tunnels and a star-nosed mole and some field mice and a family of quail and some decomposed granite and a sack of diamonds and a skeleton with a dagger in it and an Ancient and some fruit snacks and four hundred and twelve oak trees and a..."

Elsewhere...

Crimson had better stop trying to cheer people up. Might cause some foreboding doom!

"...And if we just follow the sound of blu-" Regiji pauses as soon as he notices the girl. "Ah! Scarlet! Glad you're feeling better. I figured that things must have been going well when you were gone once I got out of tha-"

I'm picking up another anomaly. Feeding you the coordinates.

"Gah!"

Regiji suddenly drops to the ground as though he had decided it would be a good time to do some push-ups in a pretty impressive display of agility.

The air where he was a moment ago wavers.

And everything in that space Stops.

The scout rolls out from under the temporal eddy and scowls at it. "Stupid Shepherds forsaken Dead-time."

[AmberVael]

Crimson bites her lip at his strange actions, and then shakes her head.
"I could be doing better... thank you for bringing me here."

The Rose Garden is not dimension locked. It's up to Celtois whether Sage's dimension shift is faster than bullets.

Chelonie doesn't acknowledge Dani's scream.

[celtois]

Chel may see a bullet enter one of sage's legs as he flickers away.. The leg looks broken.

Alexis finishes the soup and back bacon and cheese sandwich. Then pulls out some "spices" Almost finished.

It does smell good. Thanks for doing that, Alexis. I really appreciate it.
Use Detect Evil, you fool! BR screams from behind the fourth wall...

Dani looks at where the cat vanished.
Then back at Chelonie.
Back at the empty space.
Then back at the woman...

Why? she finally asks, simply.

"DAMN IT! I didn't kill it."

Chelonie would wonder why the 9mm bullet only broke its leg rather than completely shatter it, but then it is a PC, which obviously stands for Powerful Cat.

Sighing, she holsters her gun.

"I thought Reinholdt was the only one. I guess the lich brought more of them from his homeworld."

[Rebonack]

Strange actions are generally par for course with Rebo's PCs.

Just one of those things.

The Scout rises to his feet and dusts himself off a bit. Not that the floor is terribly dusty. But that's just something one does after rolling about on the ground.

"Hey, don't mention it. It wouldn't be terribly responsible of me to just leave you out there in the middle of the countryside bleeding and in pain, would it?" he provides that usual goofy grin of his. "And by the way, you should look out for that stuff."

He points at the dead-time patch.

Then tosses a handful of little pebbles (don't ask where he got them) into it.

They all freeze in mid-air, of course.

"This crazy place seems to be full of these null-time fields. Walk into one and there's no telling how long you'll be frozen in stasis."

[celtois]

(It may be worse who knows ....all she knows is that the leg is broken at the least.)

No problem..

In goes the sedative spice. Plus some nutmeg and cinnamon to finish off the pear soup. She puts a bowl of it and a sandwich in front of Quinn.. Before starting on a sandwich of her own.

Quinn smiles gratefully, and starts eating, blissfully unaware of the extra-special added ingredient.



Dani is still at least semi-shocked.
Happy...you...shot the cat...it was just a cat!
The other reasons she wanted to talk to Chelonie have been completely forgotten.

"Not just a cat. It was wearing a blue star. Do you know what we had to go through to get Reinholdt's star off of him? And then when we finally did, he was too insane to be helped. Whatever the lich did to that cat, it's better off dead. And the rest of us will be better off as well."

Susan walks into the great room, the patch of deadtime she was in making her blissfully unaware of the gunshot. She notices Quinn and Alexis. She calls out to Quinn.
"Hello Quinn!"

How do you know that's the same kind of thing? Dani points out. Just 'cause one blue star was cursed doesn't mean they all are!

Quinn looks over in Susan's direction and smiles. Hey Susan. Have you met Alexis...yet? Alexis, this is Susan...

She sounds a little...tired, perhaps.

[celtois]

Pleasure to meet you. Could I interest you in a bowl of soup as well?

"Right. Because blue stars on cats are so freakin normal. Did you notice that the damn thing teleported? Normal cats do not teleport." Chelonie says.

"Hey Alexis, I'd love some soup." Says Susan. She walks over and sits down. "What type?"
