East Coast Guardians (IC) Issue #3

After a long night of Mexican food and semi-inspirational speeches, the group goes to bed wtihout Vulcan or Cross popping in at any point of it.

Everyone sleeps rather well, no dreams disturbing you. But that alarm is starting to get on your nerves.

"Emergency! This is not a drill! Giant Monsters spotted at Corny Island, The Capitol Building, West Philadelphia, Boston Harbor, and Trenton."

"Get up everyone! There're two portals in the kitchen for you. Head out now! I need to be at DC. You guys are on your own. Don't kill each other."

Four in the morning and you have to fight giant monsters. Welcome to the minor leagues.

It's easier for me to do two small battles than one big battle since having different posting times makes battles exponentially longer.

Just say when you're likely to post, have your character get dressed, and then have your character go into a portal.

Alex blurs into his costume, takes a moment to realize it's on backwards, and then blurs it into the correct arrangement. In a second he's in the staging area and through the left portal.

Impact hops down the hall in his jeans, shirt in his teeth and pulling on his boots.

Doc Atom

Doc Atom slowly sat up in his bed, mumbling curses under his breath. He shuffled unsteadily over to his wardrobe, and started rummaging through its contents. Eventually, he pulls a black mask over his face, and ties his cape and cowl round his neck. Dragging himself out of the room, he hastily stumbles to the kitchen and goes through one of the glowing portals, nearly tripping along the way. Its official, nuclear powers do not allow a man to function optimally at all times.

Michael, used to similar alarms going off from his decades worth of superhero experience, leaps and tumbles out of bed. His mask is already on. The Tanners have always taken their secret identity very seriously.

He quickly puts on his uniform with skill and precision passed down for two generations. He runs down the hall, picking up anyone who he passes in his arms, and leaps through the first portal he sees.

"TO BATTLE!"

Gravatar is slow to rise, but she puts on her uniform quickly before grabbing some leftovers from the fridge and scarfing them down before going through the right portal.

Being used to be on night shift, Green Hound wasn't really sleeping and was already in uniform and helmet . He still waits for all the others to be ready and through the portals before stepping through one himself.

Corny Island

The first portal leads outside of the Jumbo Wheel, one of the oldest ferris wheels in the nation. It seems important to keep that protected.

Walking around, there doesn't appear to be any monsters until you look out into the ocean.

Slowly and menacing, something huge is approaching from the water.

It's some sort of Giant Enemy Crab.

Philadelphia

The second portal exits outside of a book store. Turning a corner, you can see city hall, with a giant Robotic Lynn Swann in an equally giant Steelers uniform. It is trying to remove the statue of William Penn from the top of City Hall.

Sigh, how many of you live in the Western Hemisphere and how many in the Eastern?

Green Hound arrive the first on corny island despite the fact that he was the last one to jumps in the portal. Logic and superheroes don't mix.

Shortly jumping through a random portal, Doc Atom takes to the air to look around.

Imapct heads through the Coney Island portal, and cracks his knuckles. "Okay...how about we move this away from the populace?" He heads for the crab, running to get undreneath it.

The crab is way out in the ocean. Slowly moving towards the beach and then the boardwalk.

Also, roll initiative and roll a swim check.

That's a really big robot. Wow. Alex streaks out of the portal and is stopped in his tracks by the sheer confusion generated by a giant Steeler stealing.

Since it's 4 am, the only people who would be here are the kind with the common sense to run the **** away.

The crab is seventy feet tall and covered in a spiky blue shell. It is about 200 feet from the shore right now, and heading steadily towards the boardwalk.

smuchmuch, JeminiZero, post stuff. If your character wants to attack it in melee, he'll have to fly or swim.

"Somme jokes are to obvious, even for me."
Mouth watering thought aside, Green hound is questioning is latest life chices, along the lines of "what the hell was I thinking, joining the mnor leagues when I can't even fly or throw ten time my weight"

At least we've got somme time before it get out of water

Doc Atom

"Well, I suppose we should try talking to it at least. If it is sentient, we might be able to get it to turn back without a fight." Doc Atom says as he considers the giant enemy crab.

With that he flies towards the crab and tries to communicate with it. "Hey there! Can you understand me? Could you please stop for a moment if you do."

Since flight speed is 10 MPH (52800 ft) that translates to 88 ft per round as a double move, so 44 ft per move action.

Full Round: Fly All Out, which should cover 176 feet. Doc Atom will fly upwards in a 45 degree angle which whould equal to 124 ft forward and up. That should place him 54 ft up (taking into account the crabs 70 ft height) and 200-176 = 76 ft away from the crab, close enough to be heard, but high enough to be out of reach.

Green Hound finds nothing that can help in this situation without causing major property damage.

Captain Atom realizes that that battle never happened. He notices that the underside of the crab is significantly less spiky than the top.

Reasoning with the beast proves fruitless as it just spits a big stream of acid at Doc Atom.

The beast then continues to slowly walk towards the boardwalk.

It's now 150 feet away.

Philadelphia

The robot has pulled off the statue and has dropped it on top of a nearby car. It sets off the car alarm, but doesn't explode. The robot then rectifies that with its laser eyes.

Zousha, Jones, start fighting.

"Gaahhh!!!!" Doc Atom shouts as he is hit by the acid stream. "I take that as a no."

The acid covers Doc Atom, but due to his powers, he is perfectly fine.

Corny Island

The crab jumps into the air, grabs Doc Atom with one of its mighty claws, and...

*CRUNCH*

Doc Atom is due for another visit to the hospital. As his organs start to fail him, he falls into the water, heavily weakened.

An instant later, a bolt of red lightning erupts from the sky and strikes the crab in the eyes. It shivers in pain.

OOC:
Take a stagger, a stun, a bruise, and a -10 penalty to toughness.

Also take a hero point, double natural 1s is sad.

Crab is 150 feet from the shore and floating in midair.

Green hound dive in the water and start swiming to the crab.

OOc: I know it's not my turn but since the guy who plays impact usualy post late, just consider this will be my next action)

Green Hound is working his way towards the crab.

The creature then lands, with a massive splash, causing massive waves to push away our heroes. It's groping at the air with its claws, clearly blinded by that blast.

OOC:
Both of you make swim checks for difficult waters.

The crab used leap. For whatever reason, high levels of leap let you stay in the air for a full round despite however high you jumped.

Also, I'm assuming the Impact fell asleep five feet from the entrance portal. You guys can keep posting.

Doc Atom

It takes Doc Atom a while to pull himself together while sinking through the ocean. "Alright you damned crustacean. No more Mr Nice Guy." He turns to face the crab and musters his nuclear powers into a green ray of energy.

The crab endures the blast and continues to thrash the air.

Meanwhile, our two heroes are in danger of drowning.

Green Hound is desesperatly trying not ot drown. Fighting underwater see monster is defenitevely not his forte.
If I get alive out of this i'll never make fun of aquaman ever again.
