GLoG XXIV: This Ain't No House of Cards

Butler tilts his head. "I'm sorry sir. But if there is no litter sir, then that's all the less I have to clean up sir."

DC waves a hand dismissively. ...Never mind it.

[Reinholdt]

"Already forgotten sir!" With Butler, could very well be true.

"Is there anything I can get for you sir?"

[Darkcomet]

Probably not. I should... Just...

DC spontaneously collapses.

...He probably shouldn't have left in the first place.

[Reinholdt]

"SIR!"
Was it something Butler said?

He tries to make sure Comet is on an infirmary bed proper. Then checks to see if Comet is nourished. Perhaps he hasn't eaten in a while? Malnourishment could be treated via very painful needles and IVs. *shudders*

Irene returns with Crimson.

Crimson looks like she is about to fall asleep. She's rather swaying on her feet, in fact... though that might be from blood loss.

He's fine in that department, having been protected from lack of food by the deadtime oozes.

No, this is probably just how he really shouldn't have been up.

[Reinholdt]

"Come on Scarlet. Time for bed." To the bedroom/member's quarters.

Butler makes Comet as comfortable as possible, before sitting down in the infirmary and waiting in there with him. Which may involve nodding off and stuff since I suspect Comet will be out for a while.

The Doctor walks in, marking a clipboard, and tries, emphasis on tries, to to help Crimson into a bed, before checking up on other stuff, then deadtiming.

Crimson clings to Irene, shifting around to keep Irene between she and Marcos as she follows her off to the member's quarters.

[Reinholdt]

Irene isn't sure why the Marcos fellow frightens Crimson, but complies with the girl's wishes. She works to lay Crimson down in her bed. "Are you going to be ok?"

[Falgorn]

Marcos backs off, yawns, and goes to bed. Grumble grumble grumble. Night...I guess.

Crimson nods to Irene, her eyes cast down.
"I'll be a bit better in the morning."
She lays down, curling up.

[Reinholdt]

"Alright. You try to get some rest then. I'm going to look around and see if I can't find some help for when we go, ok?"

[AmberVael]

Crimson nods to Irene and closes her eyes, trying to fall asleep.

[Reinholdt]

Irene hesitates for a while, then turns and leaves the room, looking around the base for other people. Trying, trying to ignore the whispers, which are so much more louder and incessant when everything is quiet.

Irene could always ask Quinn...

...er...or maybe not, seeing as Quinn is currently off fighting some of Kalea's goons.

And Quinn's plotclone is contemplating being shot out of a Magcannon at a manaforge.


But there's always the GLoG Library.

I know what can drown out mysterious whispers! Music! Which, coincidentally, is coming from the greatroom!

[Reinholdt]

Music! Yay! Sounds better than a musty old library. Irene heads to the great room and peeeers in. Via walking in, followed by peering. Can you peer if you just walk right in? Well, Irene's doing it anyways.

And it's Phoenix in the great room, playing... something.

[Reinholdt]

Oh! The handsome guy who was some... advocate of the god of romance or sex or something like that. He could be useful to come along. Was good for pushing between her and hollows and zombies anyways.

And he wasn't bad to look at either.

"Hello Phoenix." She goes to sit down nearby.

Ohmigod! Sex pheromones! He was under attack by a succubus or a siren or a fell-mer-creature or a kelpie or a- oh. It's just Irene.
"Hello. I haven't seen you for a while." He says, a mite disconcerted by the proximity and the nymphness and such. He would have seen Irene sooner, maybe even rescued her from scary superpowered underworld people, but well, that's timezones for you.

[Reinholdt]

Yes. Silly timezones. Need to stop existing.

*ponders the actual ramifications of that*

"I've been a bit busy. Visiting underworlds, outwitting queens, navigating Labyrinths, that sort of thing." Braggy Irene is bragging. "And you?"

Eventually the human race would split into two or more subspecies, one diurnal and one nocturnal, as well as a few in between, as the 'day' is standardized, regardless of actual light levels. That's my theory anyway.

"I've been training and composing music?"
He says, painfully aware of the disparity between his deeds and Irene's heroic heroism.

[Reinholdt]

"Oh... well... I'm sure it's very pretty." Pretentiousness abounds right there. She goes to sit on the piano bench next to him. "Show me?"

Ouch, that hurts him.
"Actually, I find my best music comes from the harp."
Prepare for magic bard-song

[Reinholdt]

"Alright. Let's hear it lover-boy." She gives him a sly grin.

[Ashen Lilies]

Phoenix sits on the floor with his harp, grinning back slightly. And then he starts.
Slowly at first, picking out each and every note in a simple, almost discordant melody. Then his fingers move slightly faster, and another layer is added to the melody, another layer of notes. And his fingers move faster still, another layer, another melody, intricately meshed together with the first and seconds. Soon, a theme is apparent, one of Fascination (hint hint) and beauty, of towering heights and soaring winds, the rolling ocean, the sparkling spring, crystal caverns, glittering gold, all that holds man's (or woman's attention), all rolled into the rich symphony of sound. And still more layers are added, until no notes can be heard, just a soaring, swirling maelstrom of charmed music, rising, rising, rising, rising...
It starts to slow, ebbing, fading, a simple melody plays, each note audible and deliberate, until, after what seems to be an eternity, the final note is struck. And then silence.

Irene listens and watches intently, entranced by the movement of sounds, until the cacophony of silence finally hits. She sits there quietly, rather taken aback and awestruck. A whispered wow doesn't seem to cut it here. So she opts for somewhat awkward staring.

She gets a slightly less awkward look back. Slightly.
