Aaanyway, for everyone involved with Masato, I've completely ran out of things to say in their situation, so does anyone mind if we jump ahead a day or two? Then we can start getting into the meat of being a substitute shinigami and all that jazz.

Also, we should start trying to fit all the various plot lines together as best as we can and get a major coherent arc going on, so we all have something to work toward in unison.

(I had an unbelievable amount of trouble getting this post to work. I had to completely rewrite it to get it through. I dunno what that was all about...)

In other news, backstory idea clashed a bit, so history for Mary will still be written, but it will take a little while longer.

As for story arcs, as far as I've understood it, we have:

The Substitute Shinigami - Who is he? Where is he going? Will he like chocolate or strawberry icecream once this is over?
Toho - well, biggest and most awesome, but doesn't really need to be mentioned due to all of the awesomeness that is Toho

Medium:

The Quincy why are they here?
The Hollowfication of a Captain "I think I can take him" (famous last words of random volunteer)
Segunda Etapa and general powerups of the Espada, Bankai for the Vice Captains and some might take up captain positions erm... need I say more?

Small:

Random Vizards appearing
The Bounto Leader
Espada infighting


I say big epic battle at the shrine once powerups are mostly done, shrine is activated, we move onto epic plot-twist?

Ha ha! I think I figured out something for Koujin's 'true Bankai'.

I was thinking about the properties that crystals have, and I remembered one that isn't commonly thought of. If a crystal grows where there is an impurity in the environment, the impurity will bind itself into the growing crystalline lattice, taking on specific properties (like color). Well, what happens if an impurity is introduced to a 'spirit-crystal'? What I'm thinking of is an adaptive ability that can be activated after an opponent attacks with a moderately strong or stronger attack (for example a Cero could work, but not balas). The Bankai then absorbs the ambient spirit particles left over. It changes color and gains some ability related to the opponent that used the attack. It'll probably be a passive type of ability, but possibly some kind of attack-thingy. Koujin will also have to deal with a little bit of his opponent's personality leaking over, though not enough to really be a problem.

I was also pondering on the appearance of his actual final release, and I believe I struck on something I like. Each sword looses its handle (the entire length of the weapon becomes a blade), and they float near his hands/arms. He also gains several smaller floating blades made from crystal in the shape of his unreleased form orbiting nearby his body. Probably little clumps of crystal near his arms and body as well, but mostly for effect rather than use. He will gain a pair of pauldrons and his armor pieces will become more spiky looking. The floating weapons can't move more than a few feet from him, but will allow him to attack from directions impossible if they were wielded normally, as well as attacking with several more weapons than someone with only two arms could.

This 'actual bankai' will grant him a boost to...well...everything that bakai usually gives. The final 'effective multiplier' he gains will be around 11 or 12 times his shikai (Bankai generally gives around 10x, doesn't it?), but he is forced to (able to?) release his final form separately from the bankai that he currently uses.

How's all that sound? good? OP? wimpy?

wait why x11 or 12? from what I can tell there are absolutely no drawbacks unless the "absorbing ambient spirit particles" ability isn't meant to give a strong benefit. Other than that, the said ability is pretty cool.

On another note, Conbar would have been great to have earlier to act as a barrier, then Maeda's and Satoshi's hollows could've duked it out together.
Except for the fact that Conbar has to be on the inside of the snow cloud, phooey.

Also reading this, I noticed that it stated that achieving Bankai is described as 'subjugating' the zanpaktou spirit. What do you think about 'cooperating' with your zanpaktou? Could that be a way to get stronger as a shinigami? (Fluff mostly here...)
