Garret looks annoyed at Fel's mockery, "Trust a thief not to understand the finer points of strategy, or any points at all for that matter. Let me explain this to you slowly, so it'll get through to you. If he has a bounty on his head, then someone is after him. Thus, we're better off moving than staying put in a single place. We can talk as much as we want while we get closer to our destination. Time is wasting, and we're less likely of being caught if we set out as soon as possible. That means NOW."

"The finer points of strategy? The finer points of strategy?" Fel laughs slightly bitterly. "What happened to basic pattern recognition? I know humans have short memories, but let me remind you that we did the learn-as-you-go thing not too long ago. Remind me again how that worked out for us. I think it worked out just super. Longstrider died, the 'good' gnolls died, we got our sans'latoriil kicked, an ancient ruin collapsed, and an unholy abomination was set loose upon the realm. Then you and Delder nearly killed each other, and we rode back into town to report 'Mission Accomplished!' Tell me, which part of that conformed to the finer points of your strategy?"

Delder chuckles at Felicitous's outburst. 'Look, ya got the poor man all work'd up ya did. I say we take it easy for-a bit, ya know, relax.'

Garret

Garret stared at Fel, his face uncomprehending at the start but growing more and more furious as Fel rambled on. His right hand gripped tightly onto the hilt of his sword while his left hand is clenched into a fist with energy swirling around it, expanding faster and faster as if crying to be released. He stands there in silence, his eyes filled with rage, staring at Fel as if trying to drill a hole in him with glare alone.

Then, suddenly, the tension slackened, and the fire in his hand and eyes vanished in an instant. He released his sword and gave Fel an unreadable look, speaking only two words, "You're right." With that, he sat back down onto his seat, his face solemn, his body still, his eyes fixed upon the eyes of each of the others, as if daring someone to speak.

Garret's only response is to glare in Delder's direction.

He recovers, and turns to the Sage. "Garret has a point, though. We *do* need to get moving - but you should probably be talking the whole time, Seer. Knowledge is power, and the last thing you need is underpowered escorts, right?"

The land boils under the fire of the sun. The air seems to dance with the lines of heat from the burning sand below. Two combatants stood out in this vast, empty wasteland.
