And suddenly you're elsewhere.

The first thing you notice is the cold; it's freezing, and you immediately begin to shiver, your breath steaming in the air. You're in a wide underground cavern, with a jagged, uneven roof. It's freezing, and your breath steams in the icy air. Every solid surface is covered with ice and snow. Up ahead of you, the cavern floor slopes down into an icy lake. On the far side of the lake, half-hidden by the water, you can see a tunnel leading into darkness. There are no other exits.

In between the party and the tunnel mouth is a small island, half-submerged in the water, coloured a mottled grey. As you watch, a snake emerges from behind the island, poking its head up into the air to look at you. A moment later, a second snake lifts up its head next to the first one, followed by a third, then a fourth, then a fifth . . . then the entire island shudders and gets up, and you suddenly realise that it's not an island. The hydra glares at you from many eyes and opens it mouths to hiss angrily.

Terrain notes:

All land squares are irregular, rocky, and covered in snow and ice, and are difficult terrain. Balance, Tumble, and Climb checks are all more difficult than normal. Running or charging will require a Balance check.

You're not presently taking damage from the cold, but prolonged exposure will become dangerous.

With your Darkvision, you can see that you're at the bottom of a narrow, vertical shaft. The walls go straight up past the limit of your darkvision and keep going.

On the wall about 5' up, you can see a small lever. You'll be able to reach it once you get up. There also seems to be some sort of notice on the wall next to it, but you'll need a light source to read.

Your turn's over, so you'll have to wait till next round to take any more actions.
