So... I'm unconcious, then. But I would have made it if I didn't use Whirling Frenzy. Or had shut my eyes at the right moment, since the spell doesn't effect those who can't see.

Nope, that's pretty much what the reflex save is for. Do you react fast enough to shut your eyes to the spell. :D GG all, couple a rolls a different way and we could have had ya.

I would say if you could have used spellcraft to identify the spell, then yes, you could have closed your eyes...but since you don't have spellcraft...you would have no reason to close your eyes...at least, that's my opinion...you may ask a ref in here if you would like...

If shutting your eyes at the right moment were an option, the spell would grant a reflex save; Murderous Mist is a good example of this. If you knew he was going to try that and readied an action to close your eyes, however, that might work.
