Re: The Second Great War IC
Right I think I'm about done Fitz says as he pocket the stone which still has the charge in his belt pouch and puts the papers into his backpack. So shall we go help the others first or run off with that chest?

Re: The Second Great War IC
Garrett
The thief hesitates. "Tempting..." he voices his dilemma aloud. "I'm leaning towards a compromise, running out with the chest and stashing it somewhere, then going back to help...Very tempting. Unfortunately, Sir Tightwad would have an aneurysm if he saw us run out with the chest before helping. Maybe we can come back for it afterward..."
"This is why I work alone," he grumbles to nobody in particular. "I knew this group would get me in trouble."
Garrett sighs. "Fine. Let's go bail those fools out...But first, I think we have someone else of our own down here to take care of. When I first got down here, I saw light under one of the other doors. Let's take a look-see..."
Silently, the thief creeps out of the door and heads down the hall towards where he saw the light.

Re: The Second Great War IC
As Garrett leaves Fitz calls after him, "Actually that would be the foyer that is right next to the door outside. We need to go out there anyway, and I already delayed the gaurds."
Fitz then picks up the end of the chest and starts dragging it towards the way out.You will be part of my achievement.

Re: The Second Great War IC
Garrett
The thief blinks. Didn't I see that thin guy come down here? he wonders.
Shrugging, he heads back and picks up the other end of the chest, following Fitz upstairs.

SpoilerSorry for the delay; You know how work is, keeping me away from the forums. Stupid needing money to live!
Gareth
Hearing the commotion from inside the room, Gareth dashes up to see what's the matter, concern etched into his face. He remains carefully unattached to any combat that might be happening, for the time being, feeling it more prudent at the moment to appear as a concerned citizen - the better position to avoid scrutiny from the guards, while still being able to help out his fellows.Pokemon friend code : 3067-5701-8746

Re: The Second Great War IC
Spoilerwell those rolls sucked hehe. good for you guys I guess!
Nemal: (And Haschel)
After throwing the shurikens he seems to lose interest in you. He grabs Haschel by his clothing and jumps down into the hole with him. He is now completely hidden from view.
(That's 1 round of Stunned gone Haschel)
Gareth:
You enter the room to an amazing sight. The room has been completely torn apart. One soldier is busy tearing up sheets to bandage wounds in a fat man's feet and ankles. Blood has soaked that end of the bed he sits on. The rest of the room is in shambles, with three more soldiers sifting through stuff, short swords drawn. Their crossbows are discarded, and four crossbow bolts are shot into the floor in seemingly random places.
One of the soldiers notices you and points his sword at you. "Who are you?!" he says, and the rest of the commotion stops as everyone stares at you.
At that moment there is a loud thunk almost directly above you. Dust falls down from the ceiling.
(The soldiers are all technically "privates". I will simply refer to that rank as soldiers from now on, and I will distinguish higher ranks if your character is able to distinguish them.)
Garett/Fitz:
As you get to the top of the stairs you hear the commotion upstairs suddenly stop.
SpoilerIf you make at least 15 on a listen check we'll say that you heard the "Who are you?!" out of all the noise.
A short moment later you hear a loud thunk from upstairs somewhere.

Re: The Second Great War IC
Unsure on what to do Nemal began by taking the shuriken that's the assailant attack with but missed. After placing them in his backpack to give back to the monk later he decid to wait for the rest of the group here.

Gareth
"Just a concerned citizen. I saw and heard the commotion, and came up to see if I could help. Unfortunately, my knowledge of first aid is lacking... You have these men taken care of?"
Glancing upward at the thunk, Gareth takes one more look around the room, then says with an air of authority, "If you will take care of bandaging your men, I'm going to investigate upstairs, see if anyone else needs help. How would I get up from here?"Pokemon friend code : 3067-5701-8746

Re: The Second Great War IC
Gareth: Everyone in the room continues to just stare at you like you're crazy.
You hear another thump behind and to your left. At the end of the hall, a door on the left opens and a tall man emerges, blood dripping from several wounds in his chest, dragging a barely-concious Haschel behind him. In his belt he has a cudgel with a brilliant white crystal set in the top, and he is wearing a very odd-looking vest.

Re: The Second Great War IC
Fitz sighs at what he hears up stairs. He whispers to Garrett, "I guess we had better leave the chest here we can get it on the way out. In the meantime I guess we should be ready to help up their if the paladin can't talk his way out."
Fitz studies the cudgel to figure out how to use it, although he still isn't sure what it does he is fairly certain that it is enchanted.

Re: The Second Great War IC
Garrett
The thief groans. "When did he get here? This whole thing is going to hell...Come on, let's get this thing outside, at least."
Garrett and Fitz carry the chest outside [assuming they encounter no resistance on the way] and tuck it into a shadowy alleyway. After that, they creep back inside the house. Garrett quietly tucks his sap away and pulls out a nasty-looking device, almost like a miniature crossbow strapped to his forearm. His other hand holds a small wooden stick stoppered with wax; after a moment Fitz recognizes it as a chemically-treated smokestick, similar to ones used in children's street pranks.
Garrett's glass eye glints eerily in the candlelight. "Let's show that paladin how it's done."
Moving quietly, he moves to the corner of the stairwell and uses his handheld mirror to peek up the stairs, listening intently all the while.

Okay, so Nemal and Fitz are outside? Garrett is on the stairs watching and listening. Haschel has one round of Stunned left and is in the grips of the Tall Guy.
So it's all up to Gareth now!

Re: The Second Great War IC
Upon failing to successfully figure out how the item works Fitz pulls out the pieces of the magic for dummies books and begins rifling through the pages as quickly as possible to try and find a spell that might be able to help him identify the magic item. While he is searching Fitz also keeps his eye's open for any spells that might be useable in an offensive capacity.
SpoilerEssentially I'm looking for a scroll which contains the spell identify since this book seemed to have ready made spells in it, aka scrolls. That and I really don't want to risk setting the paladin on fire. You will be part of my achievement.

Re: The Second Great War IC
Gareth
Seeing the man with the cudgel walking and carrying Haschel, Gareth's eyes go wide, which he covers with apparent concern for his injuries. Rushing forward, he cries, "Good lord, man! Who's in charge here? And who attacked this place? The men in there are all wounded, and you look like you've been practically put through a meat grinder.. You can't possibly be telling me this man was responsible for all this, can you? He must be a man of incredible skill to cause this much trouble on his own.. let me see to those wounds, make sure they aren't life threatening, or won't get infected..", hoping to overcome the man with a sheer flood of questions and information. As he does so, he stays firmly in the man's path, apparently fussing over the wounds if he's allowed, but primarily seeking to get an idea of what's happened to Haschel, and attempting to buy some time to come up with a plan in the process.

Re: The Second Great War IC
Gareth and Haschel:
The man seems overwhelmed at your words momentarily forgetting about Haschel. He draws out the cudgel and points it at Garreth.
"Out of my way."
Two things then happen.
#1, Haschel's stunning wears off.
#2, The fat man sees him and yells: "YOU! You let that creature in here! Guards, seize him!"
Everyone involved, roll for initiative.
The four guards:
(1d20)[1]
The tall man:
(1d20+10)[13]
Fat man:
(1d20-2)[5]
Fitz and Garrett: If you want to get involved, also roll for initiative.
Fitz, the book is all out of order but there don't seem to be any scrolls. All of the spells seem to be 0th level but they are recorded in "spellbook" form rather than "scroll" form.Last edited by The Guardian; 2009-08-23 at 07:15 PM.

Haschel:
SpoilerFor the moment he's forgotten you but he's still holding on to you. So you can't move without him noticing not to mention breaking his grip, but yeah you could hit him and he loses his dex bonus.
No shurikens though, they are specifically worthless as melee weapons hehe.
Oh and wait for at least Gareth to roll init as well.

Garrett
The thief grimaces as he hears the commotion break out upstairs. "Nothing else for it now," he mutters to Fitz. "Let's go bail those idiots out. Come on."
He heads up the stairs, trusting to the noise of combat to cover his stealthy entrance into the battle.
