Behind the Blue Ox - Kantu and Varan
SpoilerLooks like Ben logged off, so just to finish out this round of combat.
Will Save - (d20+4)[18]
The thug standing next to the envoy collapses to the ground, snoring.
"No.... no, NO!" The envoy panics for a moment then regains his composure.
"Ok, you know what? This isn't worth it. You win, I surrender."
[hr]A block from The Warehouse - Daro, Kalten, Rose, and Verin
Daro and Kalten rejoin with Rose and Verin just down the road from the warehouse. Things aren't going very well, because the two day shift guards don't seem to be leaving immediately. Ten minutes... twenty... thirty... finally, they leave, though the two night shift guards look to be more heavily armed and a good bit more competent.Last edited by Rizban; 2009-08-12 at 02:57 AM.

Re: The City of Glasken - Party One
"OK, we tried the nice way," Rose whispers, hoping the night guards aren't able to listen. "Wizard guy, you put them to sleep, stun 'em, hypnotise 'em, whatever - you're the mage, you deal with the details. Verin & me can sneak up and cut their throats. Daro, you lead the way when the guards are dead. Any objections?"
SpoilerHere's hoping I don't sleep through combat if the guards wake up...

Re: The City of Glasken - Party One
Verin
"Er, yes, albeit a slight one. Can't we just prick them with this instead of slitting their throats?" The dwarf pulls out two more vials, marked with a different rune, and hands one to Rose. "Give them a little cut with a blade coated in this and it should put them out for several hours. Less chance of people passing by and seeing blood everywhere... we do want to keep this as quiet as possible."

Re: The City of Glasken - Party One
Varan has a dark smile on his face.
"You know, I really thought Gregor knew me better, but I guess you will be staying around for questioning then."
Grabbing his flail with both hands
"However, we have another assignment that requires our attention right now."
Spoiler
I knock him out with my flail with nonlethal damage
Then I bound and gag him with Use Rope (since he will be uncounscious, he can't make his escape artist check)
((By the way I realized I forgot to add my cha bonus to saves from my Arcane Resistance class ability, I would have made the save from the web (not that it really mattered anyway) ))
Varan now adresses Kantu: "You are a skilled fighter, this was a good battle, but I fear that more will come. But not today. Let's go back to the warehouse. Even if they got in, they will still need the muscles to move the crates."
"I will make sure to get information from this guy later."
As he puts the uncounscious mage over his shoulder, Varan begins to walk toward the warehouse

Kantu
"I'll meet you there. These three need to be turned over to the proper authorities for attempted murder. I still feel wary about that particular job. I'll be sure to split any bounty on these three with you if there is one, though." Kantu lets for his flames to burn out, then proceeds to work on untangling the helpless man in the webs. "Hopefully you'll come along quietly."Last edited by Ganurath; 2009-08-12 at 02:05 PM.

Kalten
"Alright," Kalten says, "I should warn you that it's possible one or both of them might be able to shrug off the effects of the spell. Here's hoping it gets them both."
Kalten moves to get a slightly better view of the guards before he begins to cast, moving his hands as he chants quietly.

"Nice job, Kalten. Verin, make sure they don't wake up for a while. Put the cut where no one will notice. I'll get the door."
OOC:
SpoilerDaro will check to see if the door is lock, then search it for traps. If it's locked, then he'll unlock it, after Verin has poisoned the guards. You make the search, right?

Re: The City of Glasken - Party One
Rose watches the two guards fall down without a further sound after the wizard's spell is done.
"Sweet."
She walks up to the bodies, somewhat carefully, trying to go quieter than the party's current whispering. Once there, she glances at Verin to see if he's already poisoning them both - no reason to tag-team on that one job when the two guards are in the same place.
((Pre-edit post:
SpoilerRose watches the two guards fall down without a further sound after the wizard's spell is done.
"Sweet."
Walking up, she drew a dagger and poured a little of Verin's poison onto it, careful to try not to even touch it. Then she crouches to get closer and pokes a guard in the leg, a really small wound to administer the sleep drug. Then she does the other guard if Verin hasn't already.Last edited by Omegonthesane; 2009-08-13 at 06:20 AM.

Re: The City of Glasken - Party One
SpoilerIn character, Rose has no reason to believe that magic will hold for long.
Out of character, Sleep will last 3 minutes, poison will last for hours. The only big problem I can see is poisoning the blades.
I'll hold my action until I've confirmed that Verin isn't doing them both, though. Editing post accordingly.

Re: The City of Glasken - Party One
Verin
Carefully removing both guards' weapons and stashing them inside the door, Verin applies the poison to his blade and signals Rose to stand at the ready. Taking out yet another vial, he slowly pours the contents of this one down the sleeping guard's throat, and repeats the process with the second. After a minute has passed, he places the blade in the guard's mouth and makes a quick cut across the inside of the cheek, allowing the poison to flow. Provided this one doesn't wake up (or at least, doesn't resist both poisons while waking up), he'll use a second dose on the other guard.
SpoilerSleight of Hand checks to remove the weapons without waking the guards: (1d20+17)[31] (1d20+17)[23]
Applying Oil of Taggit to both guards, DC15 fort or unconscious for (1d3)[3] hours. After they've saved against that one way or the other, applying "Drow Poison" (don't know if there are drow in this world; should I rename that one?) to both for a DC13 fort save or unconscious for (1d3)[1] hours, and a secondary save or unconscious for (2d4)[3] hours.
Will save vs. blood, if necessary: (1d20+3)[19]

The Warehouse - Daro, Kalten, Rose, and Verin
Verin carefully applies the poisons to a single guard, who falls into a deep, dreamless unconsciousness, from which he will need several hours to recover.SpoilerTechnically, there aren't any Drow in the world, but that doesn't mean someone didn't concoct that particular name for that type of poison. Don't worry about it.

The other awakes the moment Verin touches him, kicking out at the dwarf to push him away. Leaping up, he snatches at his sword, which he finds has been removed from its sheath, and begins backing away. It takes him a moment to realize what's happening as he reaches for his signal whistle.

Re: The City of Glasken - Party One
Rose has not been trained for precision in the same way as Verin, and happens to be in a position to attack the guard as well. Besides, they'd have to bring him down anyway even if he wasn't able to whistle - shouting can go a long way. Since he was unarmed, and she hadn't drawn weapons yet, she decided to knock him out rather than kill him. She aimed a punch to the back of the head and a knee at his groin, best chance she had to take him out without things getting messy.
SpoilerTwo-Weapon Fighting with unarmed strikes.
First attack roll (1d20+4)[13] including +2 for flanking. Nonlethal damage (1d3+1)[3]
Second attack roll (1d20+4)[23] including +2 for flanking. Nonlethal damage (1d3)[3]
Initiative (1d20+7)[18]
Which attack roll corresponds to which strike mentioned in the post is up to Rizban.Last edited by Omegonthesane; 2009-08-13 at 12:09 PM.

Verin slashes at the guard's whistle, causing him to drop it but not slashing the cord tying it around his neck.SpoilerAppack vs Disarm - (d20+2)[20]
The guard turns to run and takes a deep breath to shout, but Rose's knee connects with his groin first. He staggers, his breath knocked out of him, but begins to try to run anyway.

Kalten gapes in surprise at the melee unfolding before him, jumping at the sound of the crossbow's firing. He curses to himself, plunging a hand into a pocket to retrieve a small pearl that he holds aloft as he casts frantically.
SpoilerI'm using my Pearl of Power to recover Sleep and then casting Sleep on the guard. If at all possible, I'll try to avoid catching the other party members in the spell radius. Lucky the spell affects creatures with the lowest hit die first.
