[BleachITP] Episode 26: Grudge Match: Masked Justice or Grim Revenge?

Something rather strange is clearly going on in 12th Division. Almost all the SRI members have left in a rush, escorted by the seated officers alongside most of the rest of the division.

Acting Captain Kinkuzo is nowhere to be seen.

The doors of the Division suddenly slam shut, automated shutters and clamps further barricading them. Even as the sound of the Division locking itself down echoes away, a white line erupts from the ground, quickly rising to encompass the entire circumference of the Division - it becomes clear that this is a dome, not dissimilar to the one shielding Seiretei itself.

12th Division is totally, silently, sealed off.

Inside, Kinkuzo sits on a chair fashioned from his own legs, glaring at the Main Screen, an expression undermined by his massive grin. On the screen are two running figures - both with flaming red hair, one covered in piercings, the other wearing glasses. Neither look happy.

"Bingo."

Kinkuzo rises, the chair unfolding and swivelling underneath him to return to his legs. He moves to a nearby console, a hint of victory-dance in his step, before beginning to jab buttons. He pauses, looking up at the Main Screen as though waiting for something, finger hovering over a particularly big red button.

"Moo. Ha. Ha."

Vince chuckles, a hell butterfly no doubt giving him the message, 12th divsion had rather suddenly, and abrutbly sealed itself off for no reason.

He shoulders his way out of the Rave he had just played at, neon glow sticks still being waved around by some too off on illicit substances to know the music was off. He didn't care honestly. They weren't hurting anyone, so he'd let them be.

The real issue lay within the Sereitei, as he shunpo'd off, a few of the people who had played well enough by other's ears, but were as off key as nails screeching against a chalk board to him, giving a gasp as they realized just who the hell he was.

Moments later, he arrives at the 12th division, chucking pebble's at the shield.

Vince's image flashes up on one of the external cameras, causing Kinkuzo to spin over there, his legs having shifted back into a swivel-chair.

"Well, I did say he could get his shots in..."

Pressing another button, a hole shifts into the ground beside Vince, a metal manhole skittering open. It will only stay open long enough for him to open, before sealing itself.

I sometimes wonder how my life has gotten to this, mutters Kusato to Vasae. A fugitive from the warped justice of Soul Society, trying to infiltrate the lair of a megalomaniac who's more machine than man in order to exact revenge on him for driving away someone I liked. A lot. It just seems... When did life become this complicated? A few months ago I just sat around and drank sake, conned people out of their money, and tried my luck with girls. Now look at us. When did life become so complicated?

And so fun?

With a grin, Kusato reaches into his pocket and takes out a pair of Cool Shades (TM), swapping them with his clear-lensed glasses. They are prescription lensed sunglasses, so he can still see. Or he could if he wasn't wearing them while hurrying through a very dark sewer.

He trips over and lands in the... sewer water.

Sh**. he stumbles back to his feet, looking significantly less cool and a bit bedraggled.

Sh**'s an accurate description of what you just landed in, agrees Vasae in an amused voice, not helping Kusato up.

"Its like we stumbled into an anime."

Vasae turns to look over his shoulder as his brother fell into the water

"You were never good with the ladies anyway. Now you'll probably never date again, since the love of your life got outta dodge."

He then turns back, continuing down the long series of sewer tunnels.

Kinkuzo watches as the twins approach through the sewers, cackling occasionally. The white, translucent sealant extends into the sewers, being more of a sphere than a dome, but it retracts from the path they're taking with a press of a button and a sound like the last dregs of milkshake being sucked from a glass.

"Come into my parlour, said the spider to the annoying, arm cutting, fugitive punk ****s.

Or, said the toad to the flies. That's better. Let's go with that."

Kinkuzo presses another button, and a light flicks on above his head, the speakers that line the sewers directly below 12th Division humming to life. His voice reverberates throughout the nearby tunnels.

"Come into my parlour, said the... toad to the flies!"

[H. Zee]

Toad? You went with toad? says Kusato. Do toads even have parlours? They just sort of sit in muddy ponds and burp loudly. And young children come along and inflate them till they pop. Well, I remember me and vas did, anyway. Shall we make you pop, Kinky baby?

All this said loudly to the empty sewer, completely unsure if Kinkuzo can actually hear. vasae is traipsing along behind.

[Revlid]

Kinkuzo's voice cackles through the sewers.

"Pop me? Oh, but it's only our second date, Grimmy! You're being so forward, I'll blush."

In the back of Kinkuzo's head, the (very isolated) part of his mind that picks away at things and isn't currently occupied with mad anticipation mutters that spiders don't have parlours either, and that it's a metaphor anyway, and that at least his zanpaktou has an animal theme to play off, grumble grumble mutter.

Kinky by name, kinky by nature! says Kusato cheerfully. He comes across a rusting iron ladder set in the wall and begins to climb up it, with Vasae following silently (some would say grimly) behind.

He pushes away a manhole cover and crawls out into 12th Division, helping up vasae behind him, then looks around.

The Brothers Grim have emerged in the main courtyard of the 12th Division, one of the few outdoor spaces there. What little knowledge they have of the place consists of the fact that, once inside the compound, the path tends to slope downward - indded, many of the division facilities are entirely underground.

Surrounding them is a seemingly unending wall of white that curves around and above the division itself. The only indication that they're still connected to the outside is the occasional spot of swirling translucence, through which can be glimpsed frantic silhouettes. Someone's trapped, and it might well be them.

All the doors into the 12th Division proper are currently shut and barricaded, as though in lockdown - except for a single open doorway to the left of the main gates.

Unless they want to try busting through doorways designed to withstand rogue Experiments, it seems their path has been chosen for them.

Cocooned inside his surveillance chamber, Kinkuzo grins. There is a ding. His popcorn is ready!

[Innis Cabal]

"Nii-san. I feel as if something incredibly anti-climactic just happened. Do you smell butter?"

Vasae looked over his shoulder.

"He's trying to make us walk into a trap. Does he think we're stupid? Why pop him anyway, you'll have to put your face on his. Do you like that sorta thing Nii-san? I know I don't. Maybe we can put him ice cold water and boil him. How does that sound? Or we could throw him in front of a car in the mortal world and see how many times he flips in the air. Or we could cutt of his hand and slap him in the face with it."

[Revlid]

Kinkuzo grins at the screen, chewing. The idiots were taking far too long to get inside and start the fun. The speakers turn on again.

"What's the matter, Grims? Getting cold feet?"

A switch is flicked - a thermometer rises. The ground outside 12th Division begins to steam, parts of it even beginning to glow red-hot. The inside remains invitingly cool and sterile.

"Let me help you with that."

[H. Zee]

Kusato grins at Vasae. Pop is threatening right? To pop someone? I mean, it's like a dry explosion, sounds pretty terrifying to me. If I were Kinky I'd be quaking in my boots right now, if Kinky wore boots, whereas in fact he'd be wearing enormous metal legs. Not that I wear boots either, or you for that matter, we both look verily -

He stops, and sniffs. Do you smell burning?

He looks down at the floor, and the wisps of smoke curling from the soles of his bare feet. Ow ow ow ow OW OW OW brother!

Hopping up and down, he hot-foots it (har har) to the nearest door into the actual 12th Division complex, under the assumption that Kinkuzo wouldn't charbroil his own men inside. He attempts to pull open the door.

The door slides open happily, allowing the Brothers Grim onto the cool stone floors of the Division proper.

Then it slams shut, and seals with a hiss.

The windowless and mazelike 12th Division corridors are normally fairly brightly lit, to prevent accidents. At the moment, only a few lights are on, marking one corridor in particular. If the Brothers wait too long, the lights will start to move away.

It is dark.

You are likely to be eaten by a Grue.

[H. Zee]

Brother, asks Kusato, taking something small out of his pocket and clicking it ineffectually. Do you have your pocket torch? Mine doesn't appear to have survived the sewer water.

[Revlid]

Kinkuzo's voice rings out again.

"Come on, Grims. You're inside the tunnel, now it's time to follow the light at the end. Even if you know it's a Dangai Cleaner."

The aforementioned lights, clustered together, start to move away from the Brothers down the third exit to the left, taking their illumination with them.

In the steadily deepening shadows, something scuttles.

"This fool wants to play games Nii-san. Shall we do it? Call forth the feather and scale?"

Vasae draws his sword. Clearly at least one person isn't here to play hop sotch.

[H. Zee]

Not really much we can do at the moment, Vas, says Kusato in a cheery voice, walking and following the light. Let's leave it and see how it goes, eh? I'd rather wait until we absolutely need them before we whip out our swords. That's what Kinky-Dinky wants us to do.

Humming to himself as he walks, he clicks his fingers commandingly. Now, please tell me you have the pocket torch I packed for you, because mine's ruined, and I get the feeling those lights are going to switch off at an inopportune moment. And the halls will probably fill with evil laughter or somesuch shenanigans.

It should be noted that Vasae is shouldering a large backpack filled with little things that might come in useful, stolen by Kusato from all over Soul Society.

Vasae sighs, pulling out a large globe

"You always sucked at Kido."

The light blares into life, bathing the area in a pristine white glow

"And if he wants my sword, i'll take off his other arm, its not like he almost didn't almost make me cross over or anything. He ruined my tattoo's. That was almost all my last years pay checks. And some of yours to. You should be upset as well."

[H. Zee]

...Some of mine? Kusato pauses. Wait, what? You said you needed that money for paying off debts! You're a bloody bastard, you know that?

He shivers. Oh well, one for both and both for one, eh? Should we follow the light or head off in a random direction?

[Innis Cabal]

"Hey. You should be mad at this #*$!er, not me. He ruined what I used it all on. Besides, you owe me. Remember that chick you set me up from the Acadamy days? Turns out she was a total stalker. I had to throw her outta window to get rid of her. And she just thought it was cute. So you owed me."

This is all probably made up, but with the Brothers...who's really sure whats true or not.

[Fan]

Vince grumbles something about that darn 4th wall, and heads through the little opening, watching it close behind him, before following the pre determined path Kinkuzo no doubt set out.

[Revlid]

As light blooms around the Grim Brothers, whatever had been hiding in the shadows hisses and moves away - or at least, becomes stealthy enough that it's no longer visible.

As Vince steps through the door into the main surveillance room, Kinkuzo swivels on his chair to look at him, gesturing at the other, abandoned chairs by the computer console.

"Ah, Captain Vince! Glad you could make it! Pull up a chair and enjoy the show."

[H. Zee]

Kusato flashes a brilliant grin. I'm not really mad at you, O brother of mine, he says. You're so pathetic and lovable, it'd be like getting mad at a puppy. Who's also a cripple. And homeless.

He looks around him. Come on, let's go walk into an obvious trap.

He heads down the tunnel, whistling.

Vasae follows behind, pulling out a small gem from the pack and clutching it in his hand, a powerful red glow emitting from his fingers

"Ya...we've got a trap for em to."

[Revlid]

As the Brothers Grim run through the corridor, the lights move slightly ahead of them, adjusting for speed, and guiding them from frok to fork. They pass abandoned labs and worryingly-strained looking containment, illuminated by their torches and the lights.

Finally, they emerge blinking into a well-lit chamber - the door behind them seals - it'd be bothersome but possible to escape. To their right, another door hisses open, revealing what appear to be a small pack of viciously mutated wolves, covered in cybernetics. It seems the first batch of Nukari-spawn have been kept on as guard-dogs...

To the left, an identical door swishes wide, allowing a cluster of unhealthily glowing pink orbs to float out, throbbing with movement, tendrils twitching as they brush the floor. Kachisuke's zanpaktou-clones, failed Nukari-spawn... It looks like Kinkuzo's opened the door to the 12th's menageries for the Brothers Grim.

The wolves spring forward, snarling.
The jellyfish just sort of drift menacingly.

Kinkuzo just cackles over the speakers. The puns will come later.

Vasae yawned loudly.

"He's insulting us."

[Revlid]

Two of the lead wolves, each almost as tall as he is, leap at Vasae, claws outstretched and fangs bared.

The jellyfish slow for a moment, throb once, and then accelerate directly toward the brothers.

Directly ahead of them, the last door in the chamber slides open. The figure that steps out is clad in shinigami robes, with unmistakeable metal legs and a welding mask. Kinkuzo must be rather confident to come out on his own.
