That's discrimination that is. Dispicable. Leprechauns are a hardworking members of the lies-to-children community and should be respected as such. Where would we be without an easy explanation/distraction for rainbows when talking to small children?
Nowhere. That's where.

And where's Noah now?
Up a mountain. also dead. And the only good things up mountains are bears and lions. You know what they are known for? eating people.

Re: KataraAltinaII's Premature Not So Short & To-The-Point Random Banter #130
How the heck do you break a mirror?
I bought 12 6inx6in mirrors in the hope of breaking them and getting nice patterns on the glass. Typically the shatter star with the circle of crushed glass in the centre. I thought: "Breaking a mirror, how hard can it be?", well it turns out, very hard.
I tried smashing it with a hammer, dropping a stone on it, hammering a screwdriver into the face and nothing has worked up to now. It's getting a touch late to make those noises in my flat, so I'll have to try again tomorrow.
I've put a couple mirrors in the freezer overnight, hoping that freezing them will make them more brittle. Also I tried leaning them up against a wall when I smash them, but for the moment they resisted everything. I didn't imagine for a second that they would be so hard to break. I don't want to go too hard since then I would have a pile of cracked glass which is not useful for the project.
Any ideas?

Buy cheaper mirrors? Seriously, where'd you get those bad boys?

Re: KataraAltinaII's Premature Not So Short & To-The-Point Random Banter #130
I didn't think 12 Chf for 12 mirrors was good quality. Turns out it's crystal reinforced glass or somesuch. Maybe I should just take it to the rifle range?

Re: KataraAltinaII's Premature Not So Short & To-The-Point Random Banter #130
I was in the mirror/glass business for a year, and I never had a problem breaking anything. Never heard of crystal reinforced, nor does it really seem like that's glass...maybe laminated, but even that should be easier to crack.
If I had to guess, I'd say it was a mirror-backed plastic. How heavy is it? (glass should be relatively heavy for it's size)

6 in x 6 in = 5.85 oz
15cm x 15 cm = 167g
I have no idea what it's really made of. Brand is Kristall Form, Mirror tiles with polished edges, Silver backed.
Maybe I'm just a wuss and I need to hit harder, but dang, I felt like I was smiting it like crazy earlier on. Maybe I should put it in a frame with no backing? My guess is as long as the mirror is flat on something it's just directly transmitting the force to the item behind and not shattering.Last edited by Ashtar; 2009-10-08 at 04:28 PM.

Re: KataraAltinaII's Premature Not So Short & To-The-Point Random Banter #130
I have a plan!
Put one of the mirrors face up on the floor, wait three seconds, then break the thing! Seriously, I don't care if it's solid lead, just grab something heavy and go to town!! Eventually, it will break!
Just imagine it's someone who deserves to get pummeled to death.
...Like, say, anyone in any video game ever who explained the mechanics of the "jump" button.

Yeah, sadly at this time, the only thing it would bring would be the cops. But yeah, that's a possible solution to try out tomorrow morning.

Re: KataraAltinaII's Premature Not So Short & To-The-Point Random Banter #130
That's the best approximation for the german term "Spiegelkacheln" (mirror tiles) I could come up with. In fact, the GB mounting instructions also refer to them as mirror tiles. The glass is 3mm thick, I just didn't expect it to be this strong.

Phase, I hate to tell you this, but you're not exactly the best dodger. I mean, sure, Halley's Comet, I'll grant you that, but all those craters came from somewhere you know.

I don't know much about sports or cars, and I don't care to.
Now, spaceships, elevators to the moon, teleporters, and lightsabers, those are interesting!
