The Creature in the Darkness
The creature in the Darkness rocks, and I personally think that "Mr. Stiffly" or O-Chul did an awesome job in trying to persuade The CITD (Creature in the Darkness), that he didn't need to be evil after all. I think that the CITD might become a good guy, based on what I know of his childlike nature. Now this might sound too intelligent for a guy with "Elan" in his name, but believe me, I know a lot about the creature in the darkness, and think that O-Chul should be able to persuade him in the future.

Re: The Creature in the Darkness
That's something I really enjoyed, and is why I play around with an idea in my head that the creature/monster/awesome dude in the dark is the Atavaka/Acala/Fudo the Myo-ou of the OotS world. Former child eating demon converted to good/the dharma by a Buddha (which would make O-Chul a Buddha here...).
The above is not a serious guess as to the CitD/MitD/ADitD's identity!

Re: The Creature in the Darkness
I think that the abbreviation MitD is too well established to be overturned now, although this is an interesting attempt. By definition, the MitD is an opponent for the PCs (or started out that way) and would probably be listed in a MM (or would if it wasn't newly imported to DnD, whichever the case may be).
In Dungeons and Dragons, racism is frowned upon, unless you're playing an elf. Then it's an interesting character trait.

Re: The Creature in the Darkness
If it's human, it's 1/8 human 7/8 templates that allow it to cause earthquakes, punch people through walls, ignore massive damage and wish people into teleporting.
So I think its unlikely at this point.Last edited by Bibliomancer; 2009-10-18 at 04:28 PM.

Re: The Creature in the Darkness
earthquake: high str, weight or a scroll/spell
punch: high STR, prepared strike, power attack, (it could be a sneak attack because miko was expecting a light atack)
ignore damage: bezerker DR, Heavy armor, high hp
wish people into teleporting: the wish spell (sorcerer spell, i believe)
as far as i know, he could be level 50+ (mayb the highest C on the mortal plane)Last edited by Acero; 2009-10-18 at 04:40 PM.

Re: The Creature in the Darkness
According to people with Start of Darkness, isn't the evidence against MitD being Human the fact that explorers were surprised at him speaking Common?

Re: The Creature in the Darkness
I see. It makes far more sense that someone gained 18 levels of sorcerer and 20+ of barbarian without training and wore weightless armor than simply be an obscure monster type, then?
If that were the case MitD would be the BBEG, not Xykon, and wouldn't be taking orders. Besides, what's the point saying "you will never triumph while I have this one my side" and dramatically reveal a high level human? In Dungeons and Dragons, racism is frowned upon, unless you're playing an elf. Re: The Creature in the Darkness
The proof that the creature in the darkness isn't human is the same as the proof that Xykon is not a cantaloupe.

Re: The Creature in the Darkness
There is no proof that the Monster isn't human, however, my opinion is that it isn't. Supernatural powers like that are not described in the D&D monster manual. However, I believe that Mr. Burlew's comic does not entirly revolve around the basics of D&D, so the option can indeed be out there.

"Now if you don't mind, I am somewhat preoccupied telling the laws of physics to shut up and sit down."
You know you're an epic wizard when you use a stilled silent extended quickened Gust of Wind spell to blow out the candles of your candle covered birthday cake.
Adventurers steal everything thats not nailed down. And what is. And the nails. After all, a bag full of nails can fetch a pretty penny. No doubt they'll weaponize it, too.

Re: The Creature in the Darkness
It is not a human. Why would it be? What would explain all the epic tricks he does?
