I don't frequent these boards much and thus don't know the extrapolated reasons for everything. I was simply implying from nale thinking, "I have worked for years for this very day." He knew something and knew that they were going to be there, or at least elan. "It seems like yesterday that my father took me aside..." implies that his father knew and told nale about elan. Nale's original purpose was to kill elan, I and surmised that because he fought with his father it may have been due to something his father could decide, like an inheritance, after seeing the horrible planning skills of the son he chose.

But it looks like Nale's original goal was the talisman, and Zykon employed him to kill the party. It was then that Nale decided to kill his twin brother.

Tarquin himself would have to have lied about it as well. "I deliberately never told your brother about you, just to heighten the dramatic tension. How did that work out?"

Strictly speaking, it was upon being hired by Xykon to kill the Order that Nale decided to recruit his brother. It was when Elan horribly offended him by saying, "I couldn't leave Roy, he needs me" that Nale decided to avenge the mortal insult by killing his brother.

This has probably been posted before (didn't read all 20 pages), but:

    #623, panel 8:

Azurite soldier: "Elf, if you're still here... I hope you choke on your useless goddamn magic"

34 strips later, second to last panel:

A big pile of spells isn't enough when the other guy has a big pigle of spells AND the strength to crush your windpipe with his bare phlanges.
    Unnh! Gllch!

    V's doing exactly that.

I just realised that panel 5 in he present strip(#728) is a joke based what is supposed to be a real event; a person allegedly sued a restaurant for serving too hot coffe. Apparently the person spilled some coffe on him/herself and got burns.

I always thought he decided to do that shortly AFTER the part where they compare each other's backstories to figure out if they were actually related.

    Not really.
Unless he's misdirecting with his little rant.

The 'recruit' decision was done after comparing backstories, not upon being hired by Xykon, yes. Since Nale didn't know Elan's relationship until after being hired...

I do not think Nale is capable of misdirecting with his rants. He compulsion is to rant about why he does things.

He might misdirect as part of a plan ( Keep OotS busy, disguise Elan), but his rants seem to be a truthful narrative and explanation about the plan.

Going by clothes colour, the guy cooking the hydra burgers here, is the same guy who found the hundred-headed hydra.

Also, I didn't pick it up at first, but I eventually got that the ninja's "death incarnate" comment in panel 16 is a reference to the Conservation of Ninjutsu. Heh, it's even one of the examples listed on the trope page.

Tsukiko's purple eye is a mix between colors of her other eye (blue) and Redcloak's cloak (red).

i fail to see what that particular comic has to do with anything heck, the one where he says 'why not use the schmucks first' makes more sense there.

Also: did you just agree and disagree with me in the same post? My whole point was that Nale didn't decide for sure to kill Elan until right AFTER Elan refused to join him.

It's not, because she doesn't have a purple eye. Both her eyes are blue, though one is darker than the other.

It's really not. Check the books, you can see much clearer there. Or open the comic in a paint program and then draw a big rectangle in the colour of each one. Her eyes are the same colour as her magic only without the transparency: one light blue, one navy. If you're seeing one as purple then either your monitor needs adjusting or you're colourblind.

EDIT: In fact, after checking a few strips it appears that although there are sometimes very slight variations from one strip to another, for the most part Tsukiko's dark eye is exactly the same shade of blue as Roy's armour. The other is the same as Thanh's hair. So unless you wanna claim either of those are purple too...?

For the record, it's also the exact same colour as O-Chul's beard, which is described as being "dark blue" in this comic.

You're accepting as credible a fact that came out the MiTD's oral cavity. The same guy who thinks Xykon is a quadruplet.

I guess O-Chul also doesn't have loads of scars then, and is really just covered in worms or something?

The monster gave an accurate description of O-Chul and Tsukiko immediately identified him. Come on, you're really reaching here. But if that example won't do, how about this?

(Not to mention that O-Chul's beard is also the same colour as a large percentage of Azurite hairstyles. Now I seem to remember some sort of running theme with the colour of that city... can't quite put my finger on it...)
