Magtok falls to the ground, waving the plasma scalpel wildly in an attempt to take down the malignant terror. This isn't exactly what he had in mind when he said he'd invented SuperCancer back in the Age of Astir.

Alas, Maggy just doesn't know when to shut his stupid mouth. Butler tumor gets in, but likely not without Mag biting down in an attempt to keep it away from his throat. Should this occur, he'll take his scalpel, and brace himself before jamming it through his right cheek to get at the malignant neoplasm.

Regardless of whether or not tumors can lay eggs, Magtok's quite sickened by the entire experience. He just manages to get back on his feet before the corpse and his partially-digested rise up his throat and spill all over the squeaky-clean infirmary floor. Ugh, disgusting...

Assuming nothing else goes wrong, he'll quickly switch to a clean pair of gloves, and then hurriedly sew Butler's head back together before lying down in a seat in an effort to try to calm down and get that squishy nightmarish parasite's attack out of his head.

Portals do a good job of waste disposal. After taking care of the tumor vomit, Decker hovers worriedly, hoping all the srs business will be over soon so she can go back to bashing apes and ducks and stuff.

Well that doesn't help direct Butler at all!
He goes to the H section and starts looking.
But none of the books start with H here.
Huh.

Misaki scratches a bit behind Butler's ear. "Oh, I forgot, these books are probably arranged by author. We need to look under T for Mark Twain, the author of the book."

Butler 1, who is not Butler 3, purrs a bit, before moving to the T section and looking there. Arranged by author's last name? What sort of nutty idea is that? First name makes more sense.

Misaki points at a book on the shelf. "There it is!" And indeed, in Twain's section is a copy of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.

Butler looks up at Misaki with confusion written on his face. That wasn't Huck Finn at all.

Oh well. He'll trust she knows what she wants and takes the book down. "Where do you want to read ma'am?"

"In the Rose Garden!"

"To the rose garden ma'am!" Butler heads to the rose garden, carrying Misaki before setting her down on a bench. Or perhaps in the dreaded Gazebo? Wherever she motions to get put down.

Misaki goes for the bench. Che can't remember why, but she doesn't like the Gazebo. It's all fuzzy in her memory, though...

Butler sits on the bench and cracks open the book to start reading! It's a little easier than The Hobbit, though the finer points are lost on him. It's a bit slow reading though. Especially with the southern accent bits.

Misaki listens happily, enjoying it despite any problems Butler might have.

NK picked it because he thought Butler might agree and understand some of the character's reasonings in the book.

Well... he probably would if I could remember what those were at the time. It's been years.
Still, he does sorta understand the slavery thing slightly. Both sides of it.

Misaki gets pulled into his lap while he reads.

Snuggled up on Butler's lap, Misaki pays rapt attention to his reading.

One wonders why no one has ever mistaken Misaki as being Butler's daughter. The current scene certainly seems to lend itself to such being the case.

"I should probably get back to the infirmary to see if Magtok is ready ma'am." And return to continuity.
