Re: Isle of the Black Sorcerer IC
@Aranis
Spoiler
You see a largish room, lit by lamps in sconces along the walls. Like the passageway you are in, the walls are stone, with wall hangings randomly placed about. The sounds of struggle are coming from a young aasimar being dragged towards a door on the opposite side of the room by 4 more of the strange mutant creatures. At the very edge of your vision, you can also see the still form of another person. Dead or just unconscious, it is impossible to tell at this point.
The aasimar is putting up such a struggle it is highly unlikely that the monsters can see or hear anything but him.

Re: Isle of the Black Sorcerer IC
Aranis leans back and whispers. "Four of the creatures and one friendly, already fighting. Nothing to do except plow in."
He strides confidently around the corner, into the room, and toward the nearest creature. "Attention! As an emissary of Myth Drannor, I command you to lay down your weapons and die with dignity!" While that line hasn't yet worked in Aranis's career, he hopes it will remove some of the attention from the celestial-blooded combatant.

Re: Isle of the Black Sorcerer IC
Aranis glided in unnoticed by the struggling creatures. As he made his announcement he did not wait for a reply and his greatsword came crashing in at a humanoid form with squashed facial features and bear arms. the one holding the aasimar's right arm.
The sword sheared off one of the creatures arms and it spun, obviously in great pain but not quite down for the fight.

Surprise round goes to Aranis!

Re: Isle of the Black Sorcerer IC
The seriously injured monster swipes at Aranis with the claws of his left arm, dropping Alliston in the process. Its injuries greatly reduce the power of its attacks, however, and Aranis' armor is sufficient to turn the blow;
The thing with an ant-like head and limbs, attached to a human torso, quickly grabbed Alliston and began to drag him to the door. Meanwhile, what looked like a lion-headed orc lunged for the Knight with fangs bared. Hurtling towards the Knight, the lion's maw makes 2 swift bites. The first is turned by the Knight's pauldron, but the second lands a telling blow on Aranis' arm.
The fourth creature, looking like a cross between a hobgoblin and a badger, began to open the door for the ant and its burden.

Jacelyn's hit strikes the ant-man in the shoulder, rocking it forward. It loosens its grip on the aasimar and turns towards the mage.
Solas' strike was dodged as the injured beast thrashed around. The monk's foot passed close by the creature's head, but failed to connect.

Re: Isle of the Black Sorcerer IC
Aranis' blows rain down heavy on the lion-headed monster. The first scores a deep wound in its side, while the second tears clean across the monster's throat and buries itself in the chest of the creature with the severed arm. Both combatants fall to the floor as Aranis recovers and looks about for his next target.

Monsters - Round 2
The hobgoblin/badger continued yanking furiously on the door handle. Finally it gave up and looked at the body of the lion-headed orc and gave off a low growl before hurtling straight at Aranis.
The giant ant-man decided that killing the prisoner was preferable to losing him and began pummeling him with four of its insectoid limbs and gnashing at him with its mandibles.

Re: Isle of the Black Sorcerer IC
The Knight's first blow cuts deep into the monster's chest. As the badger-hobgoblin reeled from the blow however, the second swing went wide and missed entirely.
As the struggle ensues, the chained aasimar slams his chained legs against those of the ant-man, hoping to distract it and make its attacks less effective .
In the far corner, the man bound on the floor begins to moan. It is clear to Solas that he is not dead after all and it probably awakening from being beaten unconscious.Last edited by Firebeard; 2010-01-23 at 07:37 AM.

Re: Isle of the Black Sorcerer IC
Monsters - Round 3
The hobgoblin-badger let out a terrible shriek as it felt Aranis' sword tear into its body. Now, wanting nothing more than for the pain to stop, the creature lashed out at the Knight with both claws, rending and tearing at the man's armor.
Ignoring the chained aasimar at its feet the giant insectoid turns to Solas and prepares to return the pain it was delivered. Both arms and the middle set of appendages - which it apparently can use as either legs or arms - came lashing in at the monk. Chitinous limbs whirled and came in almost too fast to see.
