Re: ABR Discussion Thread XXIX: Where we talk about bears....
Dude, it ruins the continuity. Like, one of the big things about CoN is that it is completely unique and separate from the other plots. Ever race in it is exciting, and new, and not something that can be found elsewhere. Having such a clear rip off (not one a lawyer would go for, as it's unprovable, but don't try to deny it is one)ruins all that.

Re: ABR Discussion Thread XXIX: Where we talk about bears....
I don't see how it ruins the continuity. So there happens to be an Ogre with a horn in FFF: R. Are horns on large humanoids such a unique innovation that only CoN can use them?
And anyway, Tiff just re-used an old template of hers. What does it matter? Why not just...let it be?

Re: ABR Discussion Thread XXIX: Where we talk about bears....
It's clearly a homage. Not a rip-off.

Ah yes, the revolutionary one-horned ogre deconstruction. Truly you are the next Tolkien and the greatest visionary of our age.

Re: ABR Discussion Thread XXIX: Where we talk about bears....
No. I'm sorry, but the 'homage' ruins the continuity. A one-horned humanoid? Fine. It's annoying, but fine. That can be a homage. But give them another name. I can see that this is going to end badly already. But I am not going to risk compromising CoN's greatest strength.
What isn't comic isn't canon. So you can still change it.

Re: ABR Discussion Thread XXIX: Where we talk about bears....
Alright. I will be working on my character intro. But I need help. Can anyone explain Plot and Plotus (Or whatever their names are)? I have a funny gag idea involving them and my character. It's not going to affect the plot at all (Except introduce my character Victor into FFF:r)

Re: ABR Discussion Thread XXIX: Where we talk about bears....
Tiff said Orange was an ogre, which indicates she plans to mention this In-Canon. I am asking her not to.
And I am not dropping it because despite the uncaring of everybody else, I care. And given that the Ogres were my creation, I have a right to request that they not be used or imitated like this.
/\ What isn't comic isn't canon. You can go ahead and decide their personalities, as long as you keep it reasonable (and in keeping with the first comic).Last edited by The Gremlin; 2009-11-27 at 03:06 PM.

Re: ABR Discussion Thread XXIX: Where we talk about bears....
I came up with the names, though. Ergo, if I do not want my original concept of ogres (horned smart people, and the hair is quite similarly shaded by perspective)to be imitated like this, that is my right. I like my concept and do not want it to be used in this way.

Plotus has a tail, by the way. I forgot to draw it for those pictures.

Before I forget it again, I was allowed to come up with ideas for Novaris animals right?

Re: ABR Discussion Thread XXIX: Where we talk about bears....
Okay, Lying's intro is being broken into 2-3 parts, I've just finished redesigning a character in line for the 1st part and the dialogue is all together, so expect a comic from me in the next few hours.

Re: ABR Discussion Thread XXIX: Where we talk about bears....
Gremlin, you did not come up with the name "Ogre". Don't try and claim you did. Additionally, your concept was not "horned smart people", DLB added the horns for one thing. Your concept was:
So, while Tiff's character is an "ogre" who looks human, neither of those concepts are original to your race. We've seen no evidence that Orange is cunning, view others a prey or is incompatible with magic, and she is the same size as a human and has opaque hair, so Tiff's ogre does not match up with your concept.
Huh. You changed Lying far more than I would have imagined. He's a devil now?Last edited by Keris; 2009-11-27 at 10:50 PM.
