A battle in the kitchen!
And all Quinn can do is sit there and wait.

Seems things are taking a while.

She does give Misaki a small smile though, and reaches for her hand...

Misaki smiles and reaches for Quinn's hand...

Hey, does Misaki have something else in her other hand?

Brendan, for his part, looks dumbfounded. Probably at how Ashna is taking it so calmly.

Or maybe it's how she can say 'a ninja catgirl tried to kill everybody' with a straight face.

"Are you sure you're alright? No injuries or anything at all?"

((No worries, life happens. ))



[Infirmary]

"Hey, sweetie." Quinn, under painkillers and such for the proving-rather-difficult-to-come-along process of giving birth, will take the offered hand and squeeze it weakly. "What have you got there?"

[Infirmary]

Still with the brightest smile on her face, Misaki holds it up.

So, what are you expecting?

It's a bloody combat knife.

Quinn recoils! Her eyes going wide in shock.

Well, she doesn't recoil far. But she does pull her hand away.

"Misaki, put that down! Now!

She also reaches out with her mind, trying to find the other Misaki.

[Infirmary]

Misaki attempts to stab Quinn with the knife!

Misaki #2's mind is easily found. She's on the road back home.

[Infirmary]

Quinn is stabbed!

...

In the arm, which she interposed between herself and the rest of her body!

"HELP!" she shouts, even as a meddrone tries to inject "Misaki" with a sedative...


~HURRY!~

[Infirmary]

Misaki Prime actually decides to use those magical girl powers for once and tries to blast the drone with a bit of force to keep it at bay as she stabs again for Quinn, seeking a more substantial area to wound.

~Quinn, what's wrong!?!~

[Infirmary]

The meddrone gets blasted! And explodes!

A shower of bits of metal pelts the area!

Quinn can't move much, but gets stabbed low in the shoulder.

"Misaki, what are you doing??"


~I'm...attacked...baby...~
She's finding it hard to concentrate.

Daisuke, hearing the explosion, appears in the infirmary.

Misaki?

Bakudo 63, Saju Sabaku!

Glowing chains attempt to wrap themselves around Misaki.

"Killing you! I hate you!"

Misaki makes another lunge with the combat knife before the chains arrest her, and even in their grip she attempts to blast Quinn with the same force she used against the drone.

~I'm coming!~

Quinn...
...is blasted!

And as a last resort, tries to manifest her psionic shields!

But they're weak, and the energy bleeds through...

...

...

And Quinn, in childbirth, is now unconsious.







Misaki #2 will feel Quinn's mental connection they were talking over suddenly disconnect...

I'm fine. A few little cuts, but I can heal, remember? I'm perfect. She nods to him.
People haven't tried to kill me since I got here. At least it wasn't specifically me, like it would be at home....

Murderous Misaki Prime tries to blast Quinn once more and finish the job!

[Front Door]

Misaki #2 comes crashing through the front door, and runs for the infirmary.

[horngeek]

Danku.

A clear barrier that stops magic appears between Misaki and Quinn.

Misaki, what are you doing?

[Infirmary]

Misaki Prime's answer is to try and blast Daisuke with the same magic!

And then a second Misaki comes to a skidding stop in the infirmary doorway, probably confusing the heck out of him.

Daisuke shunpos out of the way of the magic, and tries to knock Misaki Prime out.

Then he sees Misaki #2.

...what?

[Kitchen]

"Of course you're perfect, I still worry about you though." And Brendan tries to hug Ashna tightly!



[Infirmary]

The barrier cuts off some of the blast. But not all.

Quinn's psionic shields actually flare into the visible spectrum from what does get through - then fail, and her eyes flutter open, widely, for just a moment, as she convulses in pain, then goes limp!

Breathing very weakly...

The meddrones quickly go to roll her behind the Medical Curtain, which is likely what Misaki #2 will see happening when she arrives.

Misaki Prime is down and out!

Misaki #2 looks at the scene with horror, hands over her mouth, tears in her eyes.

Daisuke looks at Misaki #2.

...what's going on?

He's ready to bind her as well, if needed.

[Infirmary]

Security Drones belatedly swarm into the Infirmary, stunners primed and ready!

Too late, of course...

[horngeek]

Daisuke directs the security drones to take Misaki Prime to the cells.

One with an anti-magic field, if any have such things.

He turns his attention to Misaki #2.

Why are there two of you?

His voice is gentle, not harsh.

[Infirmary]

"I... I d-don't know!" Those tears become actualized. "I-is t-that... me?" She can't believe her eyes.

[horngeek]

Daisuke puts his arms around Misaki #2.

I don't know either. Maybe it's just a copy...

he's desperately hoping it is so.

A simulacrum of some sort, okay, Misaki?

He tries to sense which one is Misaki by their souls.

I'll find out.

[Neon Knight]

They're both Misaki! Perfectly, equally Misaki. If anything, the one he is cuddling could be said to be the copy, but only because her existence is younger. But they're both Misaki.

[The Bushranger]

The Security Drones do as ordered by the Veep.


A Meddrone emerges from behind the Medical Curtain.

Statement: Madam Quinn is seriously injured.
Reassuring Statement: Her injuries are fortunatly non-lethal in severity.
Cautionary Statement: However, prospects for a full recovery are uncertain at this time.
Further Reassuring Statement: The child is alright, and delivery is in progress.

Meddrones, fortunatly, don't have a cake fixation.

Daisuke is really, really confused now.

I don't think he can sense the age of souls, in any case. So, to him they're the same.

What?

Um...

He looks at the drones. Thank you.

He's thinking. Misaki... can you think of any reason you might have to be... angry at Quinn?

Misaki #2 shakes her head despairingly.

She looks like she wants to curl up and die.

[The Bushranger]

"Query: Would you like to see the paitent?"

Two Security Drones have remained in the room.

[horngeek]

This isn't your fault.

Listen, I'll get you somewhere you can rest. There's nothing we can do here, and the drones will tell us what's happening. All right?

He looks at the drone. I don't think so. It wouldn't do Misaki any good.
