Re: Arena Tournament, Round 79: Train vs. Farkis Dardanos
I know, and it was definitely not a sure thing until the bag went. I had some strategies (fortunately I was prepared for your reach, since you killed Mr. Solus with it in the big 4v4 exhibition), but I didn't really account for just how high your strength mod was. A one-hit kill was probably possible.
Of course, it's still not sure now...
Draw javelin, throw javelin.

I was gonna move closer, but I guess with your Dex penalty I can stay here and still hit on any roll except that whose number we cannot speak, lest we bring its fury.

Re: Arena Tournament, Round 79: Train vs. Farkis Dardanos
Hehe, the nice thing for me about my reach, was that your Armband wasn't enough. It stops you from provoking 1 AoO a game, but to melee me you'd have provoked 2.
Farkis is down for the count, good game sir.Epic avatar by Djinn

Re: Arena Tournament, Round 79: Train vs. Farkis Dardanos
Yeah, I know. Although it didn't occur to me until around round 2, I had been thinking it would work if you started a turn at 20 feet from me, but it wouldn't. Still useful, though. If the strength check had been a free action and you had moved to 20 feet from me, I could have 5 footed, javelined, and presuming I survived your next attack, thrown another within your melee range, and just used the armband.

Re: Arena Tournament, Round 79: Train vs. Farkis Dardanos
Movement through multiple threatened squares only provokes one AoO, though, so the armband would have been enough to get into range. Regardless...
Farkis is subject to a poster-hanging, and Train takes the victory.

Really? I was just thinking that if he got the multiple AoO-giving feat, where you can do more than one a turn, he'd be an even worse threat.

Need a Dex stat for that to work, heh. This was my first character, I know what I'd change if I were to redo him, hehe.

Re: Arena Tournament, Round 79: Train vs. Farkis Dardanos
I wouldn't recommend it, though; I know a lot of people retire level 2 characters, but considering how long it can take to get that far, I think it's a bad idea. Especially with Farkis 1 win away from level 3. Honestly, Train also seems a bit flawed to me (I made an amalgamation of him and Battle Janitor, Re-Train, for the Endless Dungeon who I consider to be superior to both), but now that he's a confirmed level 3 at the end of this round, I can't retire him. Too much time invested. Plus, he was also my first guy, he's served well enough.
