    Shep remains in his position for a moment, his face charred black with soot, lips pursed somewhat sardonically. He turns his head very slowly to Pavick next to him.

    "Mr. Lucky Gnome, I think we need to rethink your nickname."

    Pavick - Gnome Wizard

    Pavick examines the door carefully for traces that the trap has rearmed. Once he has satified it is gone, he says, "Well the trap is destroyed. Now it's just a matter of opening the door."

    He reaches out and tests the handle. "Though locked too, I see. Well they are already alerted to our presence. Maybe you could open the lock or knock down the door or something?" Pavick suggests.

    As he waits for Shep to chime in, Pavick casts a quick prestidigitation, using it to clean himself up a bit after that explosion. If he has enough time, he'll give the goliath a similar treatment.

    Pavick sighs heavily as Shep fails to pull the lock open. "Well, I see it'll fall to me to get it open then." He walks backward about 10 paces and takes a few deep breahts. He rolls up his sleeves as he gives the door a thorough staredown. "And here it goes!" Pavick charges at the door leading with his shoulder. Surprising even himself manages to pass right through it, leaving a gnome-sized hole in the lower portion of the door.

    @Aramil:
    You find yourself standing in a small bedroom. A bunk bed sits in one corner, next to a small stand that holds a bowl for washing. A small trunk is shoved under one of the beds. The beds are unmade, and you suspect someone used them recently. Directly in front of you is an open door, leading out to a hallway. In the hallway, there is an additional door next to yours (that you assume leads to another bedroom), as well as a staircase leading down.

    @Pavick
    As you burst through the door, you find yourself briefly in a small hallway. Unfortunately, you have no time to see where the hallway leads as your momentum keeps you going straight through the back door, and halfway through the wall on the opposite side of the hall. Fortunately, only your head and shoulders go through this wall, and you find yourself staring down the privy. The smell is most unappealing.

    @Shep
    Once Pavick bursts through, you're able to easily reach inside, and unlock the door. Stepping in, to your right you see the hallway open up into what looks like the kitchen. To your left, the hallway leads to an open room, where you can see the bottom of the staircase, as well as the front door, barricaded shut with a chair.

    The house appears empty.

    The Flight of the Lucky Gnome is worthy of bard song. The blaze of glory that Pavick burns through the street (and forthwith, the door) leaves a great wet tear in the Shepherd's eye. Such magnificence has moved this rock to tears.

He holds up a stalagmite of a finger to his gnomish friend and stoops over to look at the locked handle. As Lucan searches the main room, the only odd thing he notices is that there has been an unusual amount of traffic moving through this room. He finds scuff marks from boots, the occational claw mark, imprints in the furniture from a number of different sized creatures, etc. The bedroom appears to have only been used by one person, and aside from a few cloaks in the wardrobe, is fairly barren. However, upon closer examination, Lucan finds a small drawer hidden under the bed, that contains 2 small rubies

    The door in the hall is both locked, and barred from the otherside. However, after focusing himself, Shep is able to tap the door at just the right spot, with just the right amount of force, that the bar on the otherside pops up, and tumbles to the floor, only to bounce back up to hit the door handle with precisely the correct amount of force to cause the lock to fail, and the door to swing open silently.

    Inside, is a staircase leading down to a cellar or basement of some sorts. The stairs lead down, and immediately turn a corner, so you're currently unable to see what lies below. You can however, see a flickering light, most likely from a torch or a fireplace.
