    NEDdie03 is scared and confused. He closes that door as well, and grabs the longspear. He continues north and east down the hall.

    Clarification - while going north, was the cake in the room to the left and the multiple notes in the room to the right?

    Yes.

    You go north, then 10' east, then 10' north, then 20' west, then 20' south, and you can see to the west, where there's two turns to the north, one after 20', and one after 30', when the corridor ends.

    I continue west, and look down both turns to the north, all the while poking and prodding the floor with my longspear, and on the lookout for pits, traps, creatures and doors.

    at the first turning, it goes 20' then turns west, at the second it goes 10' then turns west.

    you go 20' north , 20' west, then 10' south, and you can see 10' to your east where the corridors meet up, and 20' south, where it turns east.

    By the way, are you poking the walls as well as the floor?

    Should I be poking the walls? I feel like I've been asked this before. Up to now I've been just poking the floors. Is it general practice to poke the walls, or is searching sufficient?

    It's looking more and more like I will have to confront these strange rooms...

    I am going to continue south, poking along the way (please note as an elf, I have automatic search for secret/concealed doors), and turn east, going along until I come across something demanding my attention. (Poking floor, searching walls, and keeping an eye out).

    To the east, you see a door on the southern wall 15' in, and the corridor turns south after 30'

    Could this be it? NEDdie03 works his way (SOP) to the door. After making sure there's nothing obvious to avoid (take 20 search on the door), he sets down the longspear, draws the scimitar, and opens the door.

    Around a fire are sitting 2 humans. A better look reveals one of them to be an elf and the other has another set of sharp teeth. Elf is #2. They have equipment. You like equipment, don’t you? There is a door at A5 south, E5 south and D1.

    They know you're coming, and the sharp toothed one casts obscuring mist.

    I've not got a statblock for this dude, so I'm having to assume he's a bog-standard NPC dude, and figure out his stats as we go.

    I declare the elf the target of my stance (+2 AC vs elf, -2 AC vs teeth), and executed Steely Strike against the elf (+4 attack vs elf, teeth gets +4 attack against me).

    If the elf is still up, and I am not in the mist but the elf is, and there is a square next to the elf that is in the mist, I step into it. My preference for the 5' step is E1, then D1, then C1, assuming I am currently not in the mist but one of those is and is available for the step.

    The notes should have specified that it was valuables only. I.e., coinage and gemstones, bars of gold, etc. Weapons not so much.


    Out of nowhere, your potions, alchemists fires, scimitar, and left sock drop out of midair! Amazing!

    No gold though. Pity.

    Oh, and the gemstone mysteriously vanishes too. Bloody fly-by invisible muggings...

    Awww...I was gonna give him a couple of chances to win them back later...I had a slightly recurring villain, at Level 1...Oh well.


    Out the eastern south door: Goes south for 25', then turns east. Door on the west wall 10' in

    Out the Western south door, the corridor goes south for 45' before turning east.
    There's a door 10' in, and a turning east 5' in. Down the eastern turn, you see a door on the southern wall 10' in, where the hall ends, and a red and white painted bullseye on the floor 5' in..

    Still fuming and full of fight, NEDdie03 nonetheless had the sense to make sure all was well (full HP, stance initiated, and manuevers ready for use). He proceeds out the south east door 10' down to the door on the west, and opens it with the scimitar at the ready...
