Map preference? Buff rounds?

Re: Test of Spite Exhibition - Tanaric vs PhoenixRivers
No map preference.
I don't need much in the way of buff rounds. 1 would suffice. If you need more, I'm willing to go up to 3.

3 works.
As for map, I propose this, but with one extra square around all sides.Spoiler{table=head]|A_|B_|C_|D_|E_|F_|G_|H_|I_|J_|K_|L_

100 feet is too high. 50 feet ceiling is fine, but 100 is excessive.

Compromise and say 75? I tend to use a lot of vertical movement.

Re: Test of Spite Exhibition - Tanaric vs PhoenixRivers
50 is my compromise. Personally, I'd prefer 30 (the base for this map). I'm willing to concede up to 50, but beyond that, I feel excessively favors high mobility, long range combatants, over stealthy smoke-and-mirrors types. A 50 foot ceiling still gives you 472,500 feet to play in.

Re: Test of Spite Exhibition - Tanaric vs PhoenixRivers
A huge-sized bird with spiny feathers on its face comes screeching down the west side of the map at +40 elevation. What does it see?
Edit: The bird is wearing full plate barding made of gold.

Depends on its detection modes, and its location.

Re: Test of Spite Exhibition - Tanaric vs PhoenixRivers
It will clear the entire western side up to the end. It has normal vision and blindsense. If it doesn't see anything, it will fly down and east across the entire top side, ending centered in the northeast corner at +10 elevation.

With normal vision and blindsense, it detects nothing. For the "Northwest corner", could you please specify coordinates?

Re: Test of Spite Exhibition - Tanaric vs PhoenixRivers
Alright.
OO:SpoilerCast Bite of the Werebear from scroll. Drop it. Shift grip on longspear to two hands.
Move and swift jump across the map, blinking through columns as necessary, exact ending location not yet determined.
I can, during my turn, see every space on the map with True Seeing and See Invisibility, some with cover. Do I see anything, or does exact location matter?
Also, what are your vision modes?
Edit: My turn isn't done yet.
Edit, OO:SpoilerForgot to mention activating my boots of speed.

Re: Test of Spite Exhibition - Tanaric vs PhoenixRivers
Exact location matters. Exact location always matters. Please plot out your movements more precisely than "I move up thataway".
EDIT: And I still need more precise information than "northwest corner", for the bird. Please specify the location via the letter/number coordinates on the map.Last edited by PhoenixRivers; 2010-02-28 at 08:04 PM.

Re: Test of Spite Exhibition - Tanaric vs PhoenixRivers
I need to know your vision modes before I give you my square. If you'd like to get a LoS check instead of working it out this way, that's fine.
Movement, OO:SpoilerNorthwest to G-22, then straight north through the columns.
Edit: It's huge sized. There is only one location it can be in at +10 elevation in the northeast corner.

Re: Test of Spite Exhibition - Tanaric vs PhoenixRivers
My vision isn't relevant. I won't be able to see you, barring freak luck. However, without precise square information, I won't be able to determine what you see, or what you don't see.
EDIT: I'm aware that it's huge sized. Still, please humor me and announce locations, as it takes a lot less referencing and interpretation, and is generally more precise.
Does this mean the bird's in L1-N3?Last edited by PhoenixRivers; 2010-02-28 at 08:11 PM.

Re: Test of Spite Exhibition - Tanaric vs PhoenixRivers
Edit: Removed due to LoS check.
Edit: Yes it does. For anything where the location could be questionable, I will of course use grid locations. But there truly is only one place it could be there. *shrug*

Re: Test of Spite Exhibition - Tanaric vs PhoenixRivers
The bird is centered in M2, if I understand Tanaric correctly.
LoS:
Phoenix:
SpoilerUnless I'm mistaken, you're blind due to the fog.
Tanaric:
SpoilerOnce you enter G19, you see a bank of fog on the ethereal plane. It is 20 feet in radius and is centered in the intersection of F3 and G4.Last edited by Claudius Maximus; 2010-02-28 at 08:13 PM.

Re: Test of Spite Exhibition - Tanaric vs PhoenixRivers
For the purpose of getting information, you see 5 feet in every direction, from a thick fog on the ethereal plane, and nothing else. (Assuming, you're in G2)
@Claudius:SpoilerVisibility in Fog is 5 feet. I'm not blind.Last edited by PhoenixRivers; 2010-02-28 at 08:14 PM.

Phoenix:
SpoilerI know visibility is 5 feet, but you're right I shouldn't have said blind, especially since it's a game term.
Am I right in saying that you are in F3, and both you and the fog exist only on the ethereal plane?
You hear nothing.Last edited by Claudius Maximus; 2010-02-28 at 08:23 PM.

I... oh god. I look like a friggin' genetic experiment gone wrong. Okay, let's see...
Medium-sized creature that's too tall and thin to be normal, long arms, entire body is covered in glistening brown fur, head is distended into the maw of a bear. Wearing a chain shirt, boots, and blue-lensed glasses. No other clothing. Holding a spear made of what seems to be compressed water, with dozens of spears of all size (shortspear, spear, longspear, ripper) strapped to the body. Gray feathered wings sprout from the back, flapping occasionally.

Re: Test of Spite Exhibition - Tanaric vs PhoenixRivers
Tanaric:
SpoilerWhen you enter E3, you see an unarmed, short, lithe human in a smoke gray outfit covering head to toe, and smoky cloak hiding in the fog at F3, ground level. He is exclusively on the Ethereal Plane.
I would like a hide check from you made at a -5 penalty for more than half movement.Last edited by Claudius Maximus; 2010-02-28 at 08:43 PM.

Re: Test of Spite Exhibition - Tanaric vs PhoenixRivers
Claudius:
SpoilerI forgo the opportunity to hide. If that is the real one of him and not an illusion of some sort, he is aware that he cannot cast defensively without bad things happening, so he'd know I was there anyway.
Edit: Provided he can cast spells, obviously.
Edit2: Greater Blink says that I can control the blinking back and forth. If this extends across turns, I choose to remain on the Material until he takes actions, at which point I'll blink back if I like.

Re: Test of Spite Exhibition - Tanaric vs PhoenixRivers
I apologize for my absence. Something unexpected came up.
Tanaric:
SpoilerI don't think you can completely stay in either of the planes like that. The fact that you get shunted at end of turn suggests you can't control it out of turn. Are you done your turn?
Phoenix:
SpoilerAlthough you don't hear anything, you see occasional disturbances in the fog and other miscellaneous signs suggesting that there's an invisible creature afoot (though you do not pinpoint, it is somewhere adjacent to you, or else you wouldn't see the signs). You are also made aware that you may not cast defensively.Last edited by Claudius Maximus; 2010-02-28 at 09:14 PM.

Re: Test of Spite Exhibition - Tanaric vs PhoenixRivers
Claudius:
SpoilerProvided a Riverine weapon can strike across the planes anyway, it doesn't really matter. Yes. I end turn in the square that I first detected him in.
Done.
