    Hmmm... good point.

He could work as either 11th or 3rd Captain.

Now I have this image stuck in my head where Hannibal gets out of prison and has a BSOD due changes that have happened while he was away.

Hey look, characters! And a new one that I got inspiration for today...

    Kujo, Potential Bad-Guy
    Spoiler
    Show
    Age: Unknown

    Reiatsu: Black

    Appearance:
    Spoiler
    Show
Kujo appears to be fairly young, compared closely to a mortal ranging from 25-30. However, his skin is sickly pale, nearly white in color and topped off with a matted and tangled mess of white hair, with some parts of it apparently dyed black. Whether it is actual dye or just simply dirty hair is unknown. Kujo's eyes seem to be set far back into his skull, surrounded by black borders on his face which appear to be paint or make-up of some kind. The black recesses upon his face only draw more attention to his dark purple eyes, which seem to glow in the darkness with an eerie light. His lips are also a strange shade of purple, as if he was being deprived of oxygen, but the look never seems to leave his face regardless of his breathing.

Kujo usually stands with his neck slightly hunched forward, casting even deeper shadows on his eyes. He wears a long, black robe-like coat that has thick, black fur lining the collar. A wide sash is worn around his waist, which tapers down into a point on both the front and back. More black fur runs down from under the sash and down each side of his coat and around behind his legs, reaching down about to his ankles. His zanpakutou is usually carried at his side, though he has been known to carry it by hand, or upon his back on occasion.

    Personality:
    Spoiler
    Show
Kujo is... Not a nice person. If anyone can be called "evil," it is this Shinigami. He revels in death and destruction, often killing just for the sake of a laugh. The man lives for the sake of planting the seed of chaos anywhere he can find and cannot be trusted at any cost. Anyone that might call themselves an ally of Kujo will find themselves subject to his mental instability, either patting them or stabbing them in the back at any given moment. He also has a number of habitual ticks, such as quickly shifting his eyes back and forth and often playing with his hair as if he were trying to straighten the tangled mess. He even tends to stutter when he speaks and can be quite twitchy with his body movements as well.

Despite his apparent simplistic nature, many denizens of Soul Society believe that he is vying for something more. However, anyone who has ever tried to uncover an ulterior motive has failed in their attempts. Cracking the mind of a madman is a fool's errand, after all. His mind has already cracked.

    History:
    Spoiler
    Show
Very little is widely known about Kujo. There are legends, rumors and stories surrounding him from anyone that might know about him, but separating them from fact is a difficult process. Some even say that he murdered the previous Commander-General in a single hit, then vanished into obscurity. For those few who have ever come in contact with the man, he has given conflicting reports of his origins, ranging from a boy growing up in Rukongai to being a Substitute Shinigami recruited into the Seireitei.

    Zanpaktou: Ranmyaku (Chaos)
    Spoiler
    Show
Sealed Form: Ranmyaku appears as any other standard katana with jet-black wrapping around a silver hilt.

Zanpaktou Spirit: The spirit of Ranmyaku only ever speaks to Kujo in very rare cases, and when it does, it only appears as a disembodied voice. In all his years as a Shinigami, Kujo has never seen the spirit of his zanpakutou.

Shikai: Although to release his sword, Kujo must speak its name, the activation phrase seems to change with every release, making it nearly impossible to predict.
    Spoiler
    Show
Ranmyaku changes little in its appearance upon releasing. In its shikai form, the weapon does not change shape, but the entire weapon changes color to a deep black, which appears so dark that even light itself seems to avoid it. While its appearance may not be overly unique, its abilities make it stand out as the most unpredictable zanpakutou in the history of Soul Society.

Ranmyaku is the embodiment of pure chaos. Whenever Kujo swings the blade or strikes it upon another object, something happens. While that seems vague, it is the only real way to describe its effects. Anything can happen. Perhaps it will generate a massive explosion big enough to destroy all of the Seireitei... Or perhaps it will only result in a puff of smoke. Perhaps it will heal Kujo's injuries... Or perhaps it will heal everyone else's. Perhaps it will do nothing at all. Or perhaps it will simply kill the person it is pointed at.

Despite what others may think, Kujo cannot actually predict Ranmyaku's effects, and often acts just as surprised at the results as those they are being used on. To quote Kujo himself on his zanpakutou, "I never let the blade touch the ground. I'm sort of afraid that it'll turn the world into a... a walnut or something."

Bankai: Not yet revealed. It's unknown whether or not Kujo can even use Bankai, given such little information present on the man.

Felix Sergiu, First Knight of the New Enclave

    Spoiler
    Show
    Speech Color: #663300

Appearance: Felix is tall with a relatively thin build. A short mess of dirty-blond hair sits atop his head, sometimes covering his young face in shadows, which give him a rather intimidating appearance, despite his age. His eyes, while a dull gray in color, seem very dark and disturbed to anyone looking into them, adding to his troubled visage.

Felix usually wears simple clothing, mostly as he tries to avoid unwanted attention... For his time period, that is. He is most often seen wearing simple white shirts and dark pants without any kind of specific style (for the mid-1800s, mind you). However, he wears a large cuirass of leather armor over his torso and finger-less leather gloves, which he tucks the sleeves of his baggy shirt into. He also is usually seen wearing a thin belt, to which he attached the holster for the pistol he took from his late mentor Gabriel. Most of the time, he keeps his rapier sheathed at his side as well as any other items or equipment he may need tucked into pouches on his belt.

Personality: Felix is young and inexperienced. Although he is a brave individual, who will do whatever necessary to fend off evil, when placed in a position of leadership, he struggles with his own self. While he has proven to have the skills, he lacks the belief in himself to properly lead. This conflict, which can almost be seen raging just beneath the surface of his eyes, is what drives Felix to search for his place in the world.

    Glyphs:
Reconcilio - The standard-issue Enclave Glyph is inscribed upon his rapier and his pistol.

Eximius - The pistol Felix wields (which he took from Gabriel) is inscribed with a Glyph that allows him to fire small, magical bullets as if they were regular ammunition, but without the need for gunpowder or additional bullets. They glyph has other abilities as well, such as being able to fire bolts of black lightning, but Felix is still inexperienced in its use, so he does not yet know how to use it to its full potential.

Luminatio - Felix's rapier is also inscribed with a Glyph that imbues the blade with a white glow, allowing it to cut through solid objects more easily. He can also cause the blade to flash with a bright light, which he can then use as a distraction. When he concentrates, he can also fire large orbs of light that will follow their target for a short time and explode on impact. However, the orbs are slow moving and can be dodged fairly easily.

Velox - Rather than imbue his leather armor with additional strength, Felix chose the route of agility. The Glyph he inscribed into his cuirass allows him to move considerably faster than normal, though he must concentrate to keep it active for long periods of time.

Serena Dacre, Member of the New Enclave
(Once again, this is an NPC character, not one that will be actively controlled by me. In fact, I might wait and see if there's any real reason to introduce her at all, since it might just feel tacked-on. We'll see.)
    Spoiler
    Show
    Speech Color: Silver

History: Serena is the daughter of Octavian Dacre, who was the last Master Crusader of the Enclave back in the 19th century. She was brought into the Enclave against her will as a child, and was prepared to be a perfect warrior for their cause. Octavian saw his daughter as little more than a tool, and had the scribes tatoo various glyphs directly onto her young flesh, including an elegant glyph across her face and around her eyes. Unfortunately, their plans took the girl's mind and shattered it, leaving her broken and useless. The glyphs she had been imbued with all went dormant except for the one upon her face, which robbed her of her eyesight. However, the experimental glyphs replaced her physical eyesight with that of foresight. Soon, they realized she could very accurately predict the future, but only if her words could be deciphered.

Octavian realized the girl's potential and demanded that she be taken care of. He treated her like a princess, but in reality only saw her as a tool to his own devices. Her mind never developed, leaving her as a child even as she matured into a woman. As time went on, she spoke fewer and fewer words to anyone, becoming more of a recluse with every passing moment. Octavian eventually saw that he was losing her, and had her sent to Italy to undergo a special treatment. However, after he was unsatisfied with the reports, he demanded that she be returned, a job that was given to the knight Gabriel and his apprentice Felix Sergiu. On their way back to Octavian however, the fate of the Enclave changed forever, and Serena was transported into the future along with the other survivors....

Appearance: Serena is a young girl, in her early twenties and reasonably pretty. Long, dirty blonde hair runs down past her shoulders and her bangs cast shadows over her forehead and eyes, although she also wears a cloth blindfold at all times. Some glyphs can be seen tatooed on her face under the blindfold, but she tries to keep them hidden at all times.

Serena is usually dressed in high-quality clothing when not traveling, including frilly dresses and anything else that high-class women would have been seen wearing in the mid-19th century. When on the road with other Enclave members, she is dressed modestly, but still enough to draw attention to the fact that she comes from a well-off family, almost as if she was dressed to be some sort of nobility.

Personality: Being that her mind was broken by experimental glyphs in her early childhood, Serena's mind never developed into maturity while her body continued. As a result, she is painfully naive and childish in her mannerisms, when she chooses to show them. However, most of the time, she simply stays quiet and refuses to speak to anyone. While her mind is still immature, she has shown some signs of growth, but it is mostly buried beneath layers of trauma, perhaps even put there by her own will. Some have said that it is possible that she could develop mental maturity very rapidly, but doing so would have to be her own choice, which seems highly unlikely at this point.

Glyphs: Serena's body is tatooed with many glyphs, but most of them are dormant and seemingly useless. There is only one, surrounding her eyes, that seems to have any effects.

Prudentia - Serena is able to look into the future with her sightless eyes and accurately predict future events. She seems to have no limit to this ability, being able to predict events mere minutes before they happen, or entire decades. She speaks in cryptic ways (if she chooses to speak at all), so deciphering her prophecies is a difficult process. Nevertheless, she is a very valuable asset for the Enclave, and potentially for anyone who could harness her power...

Miyako Akimoto, 2nd Division; 12th Seat and Member of the Onmitsukidou
    Spoiler
    Show
    Age: 204

    Gender: Female

    Reiatsu/Speech Color: #273b5c

    Appearance:
    Spoiler
    Show
Miyako could easily be described as "beautiful." She comes from a well-known noble family, one that greatly encourages her to maintain her beauty. Long, raven-black hair flows from her head and with the help of a dark blue ribbon, it is tied into a large, single braid that reaches down to the middle of her back. Her pale blue eyes only add to her good looks, which is what makes it all the stranger that she is never seen without a mask that covers the entire lower-half of her face, including her nose and mouth. She also is known to wear blue, knee-high boots under her hakama rather than the traditional waraji sandles and a pair of simple, blue gauntlets around her forearms. Otherwise, she tends to wear the standard-issue Shinigami robes with little variation.

However, under her robes, Miyako also wears a tight, one-piece outfit that is in fact connected to her mask. The outfit is quite revealing, as it is slit down the middle with only a translucent veil covering it and has no legs, leaving her thighs and upper-arms fully exposed. The outfit is for her own benefit in combat, allowing her to move much faster without any of the excess weight of the baggy robes. Given her slender form, the outfit can also double as a... Distraction when fighting male opponents.

    Personality:
    Spoiler
    Show
Miyako is a noble-woman. While not the head of her family, she still holds her family's traditions very close to her heart. It is an Akimoto family tradition for the women to wear masks when in military uniform, to hide their beauty and avoid revealing their emotions to those they face in battle. Growing up in such a traditional home, Miyako was raised to believe in honor and nobility whenever possible, and eventually joined the Onmitsukidou for the specific purpose of upholding her family's beliefs.

She is calm and level-headed, but also stern and uncompromising, especially in combat. When facing single opponents, Miyako demands to fight alone, even if it means ordering her fellow Shinigami back (whether or not she outranks them). She is well-versed in martial arts and close-combat fighting, and while she is somewhat capable with Kidou spells, she prefers to let her blades do the work for her. Given that she spends long hours every day training, she tends to fight almost as if she was dancing, preferring to strike quickly and effectively but she only rarely removes her shinigami robes to unleash her full potential, especially given her ideals that her beauty is something to hide from an enemy. However, if it means completing her task, she will do what is necessary of her, making her a very reliable and trustworthy ally to have at one's side.

    History:
    Spoiler
    Show
Miyako, as mentioned, grew up within a noble house. She had two younger sisters and two older brothers. Both brothers joined the Gotei 13 as soon as they were able, which spurred Miyako herself to follow in their steps, much to the protest of her parents. However, while protecting a district of Rukongai during a Hollow attack, her oldest brother Kazuma died in the line of duty as a 4th seat. The sudden death in the family only made Miyako want to join that much more and take up the place of her fallen brother. Eventually, her parents realized there was little they could do to stop her ambitions and she was sent off to the Shinigami academy.

She excelled in many of her classes, though she showed a great deal of promise in her practicing of Hakuda and Hohou. This eventually caught the attention of the Onmitsukidou and upon her graduation from the academy, she found a home within the 2nd Division. As she continued training and patrolling as her duties required, she was eventually promoted to the position of 20th seat, and at the same time, was officially inducted into the Onmitsukidou as a member of the patrol corps. As she continued to dispatch Hollows, she found herself being promoted again and again and now sits as a 12th seat, though she shows little pride at the notion, believing that she must still yet live up to her unrealized potential and honor her lost brother, both as a Shinigami and as a sister.

Zanpaktou: Hishou no hime (Princess of Flight)
    Spoiler
    Show
Sealed Form: Hishou no hime in its sealed form takes the appearance of two small tantous, strapped to each side of her body on the inside of her robes. The hilts of both blades are a black with a deep, blue wrapping around them, while the guards have a zig-zag pattern that points in toward the blade.

Shikai: "Dance upon the winds, Hishou no hime!"
Miyako holds both blades out to her sides, then swings them forward as she activates her shikai. The blades seem to flatten out, and at the apex of her swing, both spread out to reveal two large, folding fans with a series of bladed tips jutting out the other side. She can use the fans both in their collapsed and unfolded forms as effective weapons, although they are usually too delicate for actually blocking straight attacks. She can use the fans as shields from small projectiles, but when faced with another sword strike, she has learned to either dodge the attack completely, or simply redirect it. In desparation, she can collapse the fans and use them to block, but they are not nearly as sturdy nor as reliable as an actual sword would be.

Her shikai gives her few outside abilities. Being that she prefers to fight in close-combat, it is more of a passive buff of her abilities, allowing her to move faster than she normally would be able to. She can also control small gusts of wind with waves of the fans, allowing her to knock her opponents off-balance or provide brief distractions when necessary. Finally, she can also throw the fans as spinning projectile weapons either one at a time, or attach them at the base and throw them as one disc.

    Bankai: Not yet achieved.

I'm kind of surprised that fan-blades never showed up as a weapon before.

At least, I don't think they did...

EDIT: Changed Michiko's name to Miyako after realizing I named her the same as Callos' character. Whoops.

Okay, would there be any objections to be simply moving all my current characters (possibly excluding Isabella) to the new setting, seeing as they currently have next to no real development and I kind of don't want to waste their potential.

While no one has made fan blades, as far as I've seen, someone has already made an attractive female named Michiko. Someone named callos.

I'll reuse the character I barely started playing.

    Ken Dai
    Spoiler
    Show

    Name: Ken Dai
    Affiliation: Shinigami
    Division: 11th Division
Rank: Unseated assuming a good chunk of us will be

    Physical Appearance:
    Height: 5'6"
    Weight: 130
    Eyes: Black
    Hair: Black
    Skin: Snow white
Ken wears the standard shinigami uniform without any variations to it.
He has a gaunt face with smooth features. His hair is short and straight. He has no facial hair. Ken appears to be a young man. He has a slender muscular figure.

    Personality:
    Spoiler
    Show

Ken is a nihilist and believes in determinism. He believes life is meaningless, that there is no such thing as free will, that morality is purely subjective and that there is no perfect higher power worthy of worship. He feels strongly detached from most people. The suffering of others often doesn't bother him at all. He doesn't care at all about Soul Society or the mortal world. He has only become a shinigami to reach his goal of becoming as powerful as he can possibly be. This goal doesn't have a deep purpose. He has simply chosen it in order to keep himself busy so that he doesn't dwell on the meaninglessness of his life and because he wants the strength to do whatever he desires. One area of power he has decided to focus on is his swordsmanship. He wants to become the greatest swordsman in all of Soul Society. Despite Ken's depressing outlook on life he is still able to mostly think and feel positively like anyone else but he can be subject to bouts of feeling extreme emptiness. Ken has two sides to himself when speaking with people. Sometimes he is polite and formal and other times he is sarcastic and playful depending on the situation and who is he talking to. Sometimes he speaks in a joking manner to hide his shyness when he says something that embarrasses him. As an example, he might try to compliment a female or tell her he likes her in a very comical way because although he wishes to be taken seriously he worries about what that may entail such as a straightforward reply of rejection. Ken likes to joke around and has a very dark sense of humor. Nothing is sacred to him but he does acknowledge when it's inappropriate to say certain things. One other goal Ken has is to find one person he feels he can connect with and befriend him/her to lessen his feelings of emptiness. So far he hasn't met anyone that he truly considers a friend. Everyone up to this point has been what he would call an acquaintance or a temporary friend of necessity. One thing Ken dislikes is to stand out from a crowd. He doesn't feel a need to conform with people but he doesn't want to draw attention to himself. He likes the fact he has a uniform so that he doesn't have to think about what he will wear each day. Even if he didn't have one he would just wear the same boring plain clothes all the time which would basically be the same thing. To further clarify Ken's beliefs about free will, he believes love is nothing more than a chemical attraction or the equivalent to a complex mathematical equation. He doesn't really care about the opposite sex but he definitely is straight. Ken has a thing for shy and reserved girls because he finds more outspoken ones intimidating since he has very little experience talking with them in general. He isn't sexist but he likes to emulate certain ideals of manliness such as never crying and never seeking emotional support. He has no qualms with killing people whether they are "innocent" or "guilty." If he makes any friends and they decide to do evil things he'd have no moral problem suddenly following suit since he doesn't believe in good or evil and does what will please himself. He would however first consider the plausibility of succeeding in a life of crime and the dangers of it as well as what he would have to give up for it. Ken considers himself to be an intellectual but wouldn't want to describe himself in such a way because he thinks he would sound pretentious. He is usually very stoic when dealing with negative emotions and situations. Ken has a high tolerance for annoyance and is a patient and understanding person. He believes that everything is subjective including subjectivity. When it comes to fighting Ken is fearless and feels no need to show his enemies any mercy unless he has a specific obligation to. Some might expect Ken to be depraved but he isn’t anymore likely to lie, cheat, steal, manipulate or bully than the average person. In fact he is less likely to do these things than most people because he simply really likes to treat people the way he wants to be treated. He is humble and isn’t afraid to make fun of himself. He hopes one day to become a captain and a noble and to attain the titles of Kenpachi and Captain-Commander. He doesn't plan on developing any clever schemes to usurp the people above him. He simply plans to carry out his duties and prove himself in combat well enough to earn these ranks and titles like anyone else. Ken aims as high as he can because the more time and effort his goals require to fulfill the less time he is likely to spend thinking about his world views. If Ken ever succeeds in gaining substantial authority he doesn’t plan to abuse it or even use it much at all. He just wants the power to be able to defend himself in case anyone socially tries to attack or order him around.

Reiatsu: Transparent. It is very inconspicuous. Rather than blazing like fire it forms a skin tight outline around his body. Even when released forcefully it just expands outwards and floats. No matter what emotional/physical state Ken is in his aura remains calm.

Zanpakuto: Ken/Sword (written with the same kanji as the ken in kendo which means sword)
Sealed: Ken’s zanpakuto is a totally ordinary traditional katana. Its dimensions are of average size and its circular guard lacks any special design. Its hilt wrapping is black and so is the sheath of the sword which is equally nondescript.
    Spoiler
    Show

Shikai: “Cut, Ken.” (Not implying he has it yet in this version if we go real low powered)
The moment when Ken releases his sword it glimmers just a bit but nothing else happens. The released form of Ken’s zanpakuto is identical to its unsealed form. It substantially increases Ken’s speed and strength by allowing him to better control his spiritual energy. His aura doesn't change because the extra reiatsu released from his body and sword is condensed into each. Ken's zanpakuto also becomes much more durable as a result of the compressed energy.

Bankai: Not yet achieved. If he had it, it would just further increase the effects of his shikai and its release would cause Ken’s sword to shimmer again.

Mindscape and Spirit: When speaking to his zanpakuto Ken sees the same setting his physical body is currently in. His zanpakuto spirit looks exactly like him and it shares his name. It basically has the same personality as its owner. This doesn’t mean the two get along perfectly. Why is his zanpakuto so boring? Probably because as part of Ken it shares his minimalist tastes.

If Ken ever had an inner hollow it would look exactly like him except with a completely reversed colour scheme.

Since we're putting an emphasis on not talking about ability scores and what not I'll list some applicable tropes for Ken instead because a lot of people here like tropes.

Oh, before I forget, what are the chances I could put off my plot until the next setting starts and secure a captain position with Ai then? Keep one intentionally vacant until she is introduced and whatnot.

I had an absolute overflow of character ideas today. These are the first two of, so far, four.

    Hidetsugu Iwaki
    Spoiler
    Show

    Age: 212
    Height: 6' 8"
    Weight: 259 Ibs.
    Faction: Gotei 13
Reiatsu: The color of forge flames
    Faction: Soul Society
    Division: Kido Corps
    Appearance
    Spoiler
    Show

The first thing most people notice about Iwaki is his size. Iwaki is massive, easily towering over others. Adding to this effect, Iwaki's large frame bulges with muscles, and from his appearance he could snap a grown man in half like a twig. The numerous scars scattered across his body help little. Despite this, Iwaki has a kind face, usually in either a gentle smile or look of scholarly concentration. He has unreadable brown eyes and a thick mane of brown hair that hangs past his shoulders. He wears a standard Kido corps uniform. He carries his Zanpakuto slung across his back.

    Personality
    Spoiler
    Show

Iwaki, at heart, is a gentle, introspective soul. He is quiet and withdrawn, but also generous, kind, and hardworking. An average shinigami, Iwaki has been noted by several superiors as having great potential for advancement. Iwaki, however, has shown little ambition and is content with his status and place in the world. He is analytical and highly intelligent, and has an excellent understanding of people. Iwaki keeps to himself, spending most of his time studying Kido or reading. He most likes historical texts, but has read from almost every genre of literature in his time. Iwaki detests violence, and will always seek an alternative solution before engaging in it, if called to do so.

    History
    Spoiler
    Show

Very little is known about Iwaki's past. He came more or less out of nowhere, applying successfully to the Shinigami Academy and undergoing training, standing little apart from his peers aside from his unusually large amount of spiritual power. He proved particularly adept at Kido, especially Bakudo, and showed a high level of interest in it. As a result, upon graduation he was accepted into the Kido Corps. Since then, Iwaki has done little to distinguish himself, performing his duties admirably and generally doing little to attract attention to himself. He gained Shikai a few years ago, and since then has spent much time communing with his Zanpakuto's spirit.

    Abilities
    Spoiler
    Show

Iwaki is a skillful user of Kido for his level. His strongest Kido are Bakudo techniques, but he is perfectly competent at Hado as well. Despite his best efforts, he remains relatively inept at healing Kido. He also possesses titanic physical strength and is an adept hand to hand combatant, his bulk doing little to slow him down. In battle, he shuns the use of his unreleased Zanpakuto, preferring his fists and Kido. Iwaki also has a very high level of spiritual power for an unseated. This lends his Kido additional power, as well as improving the effects of his Zanpakuto.

    Zanpakuto
    Katanakaji (Swordsmith)
    Spoiler
    Show

    Forge, Katanakaji
    Inner World
    Spoiler
    Show

Iwaki's Inner World is a small room containing a full forge. The walls are wooden, and smoke and steam mingle to create a hazy effect. Tools are arranged in an orderly manner in various locations around the room, and a number of finished swords, tools, and other products of the forge are visible in a pile of crates in one corner.

    Spirit
    Spoiler
    Show

Katanakaji takes the form of a large man in a full blacksmith's outfit. He is the same size and build as Iwaki, but lacks the scars and has a broader face, and short black hair. He is gruff and terse, and ceaselessly toils at the forge while he talks to Iwaki.

    Sealed Form
    Spoiler
    Show

Katanakaji is a long katana. Its guard is an angular rectangle.

    Released Form
    Spoiler
    Show

When Katanakaji is released, it becomes a pair of pitch black gloves that fit perfectly over Iwaki's hands. The gloves are lusterless, almost seeming to absorb the light around them. They are adorned with numerous strips of black iron over the fingers, back of the hand, and forearm. On the palms, there are two perfectly shaped white circles, which glow red when the Zanpakuto's effect is activated. Katanakaji possesses the ability to manipulate solid objects surrounding Iwaki, allowing him to do anything between twisting their shape and moving them around, to breaking them down into their raw components and reshaping them. Simple uses of this ability require little effort, but stronger or more complex effects require greater amounts of energy.

    Sadanaga Hideuchi
    Spoiler
    Show

    Age: 126
    Height: 5' 9"
    Weight: 143 Ibs.
    Faction: Gotei 13
Reiatsu: The color of shining steel.
    Faction: Soul Society
    Division: Second Division
    Appearance
    Spoiler
    Show

Hideuchi is of average height, but difficult to miss none the less. He is very distinctive in appearance, possessing sharp, striking features and a carrying himself with a bearing of absolute confidence and assurance. Hideuchi has cool gray eyes and short black hair. He walks with a cat like grace. He is thin but possesses a lithe and wiry musculature. Hideuchi wears a normal and unadorned Shinigami uniform. He wears a simple silver ring on his left hand. He carries his Zanpakutos in his sleeves, contained within concealed sheathes designed for easy access.

    Personality
    Spoiler
    Show

Hideuchi is, at best, self confident and proud. At worst, he is condescending, arrogant, and dangerously overconfident. He has little interest in other people, considering most to be beneath his attention. He believes absolutely in his own abilities, and the thought of asking for or needing another's aid is alien to him, although he would readily help others to show off his superiority. Hideuchi is highly intelligent, but this rarely comes through. Very ambitious, Hideuchi has always sought greater rank and glory, although both have thus far been denied him. He spends much of his time training, feeling a constant need to sharpen his skills. Hideuchi's social skills are lacking, but deep down, he isn't a bad person, merely blinded by his arrogance.

    History
    Spoiler
    Show

Hideuchi has been very lucky in his life. He was born in the District 1 of the Northern Rukongai to a prosperous merchant family. As a child, he was quiet and aloof, having little interest in other children or much of anything else. He spent most of his time daydreaming or avoiding work. He found his life to be uninteresting and had no desire to learn the family business. Thus, it came as a great relief to him when it was discovered that he was powerful enough to become a shinigami, and soon after he entered the shinigami academy. He found that he derived great satisfaction from the training, and worked very hard at his studies. He quickly proved to be a natural at all physical areas of shinigami study, excelling at Zanjutsu, Hoho, and Hakuda, while managing to be competent with Kido. After graduating, Hideuchi joined the Second Division. His skill was not diminished by actual combat, and if anything he grew even stronger after his first field assignments. After a few years, he had unlocked his shikai and reached the level of a seated officer. However, because of Hideuchi's overwhelming arrogance and overconfidence, he has always been prevented from ascending beyond an unseated, which frustrates him to no end.

    Abilities
    Spoiler
    Show

Hideuchi is very fast and extremely agile, able to run circles around heavier opponents. He is highly skilled at both Hoho and Hakuda, and his Zanjutsu is also at a high level. Hideuchi has spiritual energy that is above average by a fair margin. He can be extremely stealthy when necessary. Hideuchi's Kido ability is below average for someone of his general skill level, but he is competent with it. Hideuchi has surprising strength for his slender build, but in general avoids relying on overpowering his opponents. In battle, Hideuchi relies on hit and run attacks, avoiding extended confrontations.

    Zanpakuto
    Shado-Yougu (Shadow Implements)
    Spoiler
    Show

    Kill, Shado-Yougu
    Inner World
    Spoiler
    Show

Hideuchi's Inner World appears as a titanic mass of shadows. There is ground, but Hideuchi has seen no objects or landmarks.

    Spirit
    Spoiler
    Show

Shado-Yougu manifests as a tall man shrouded in a dark cloak that hides his form, with a pale white Oni Noh mask covering his face. He speaks in a low whisper that always seems to come from behind Hideuchi. Shado-Yougu generally treats Hideuchi with disdain and contempt, although he expresses approval of his hard work.

    Sealed Form
    Spoiler
    Show

When sealed, Shado-Yougu appears as a twinned pair of long, curving daggers. These daggers are made of a dark metal that does not reflect light and are always razor sharp. Their guards are extremely thin ovals just barely surrounding the blade.

    Shikai
    Spoiler
    Show

When Shado-Yougu is released, it becomes a pair of steel bandoliers that wrap around Hideuchi's wrist and the front of his forearms. Each bandoleer is composed of six rectangular containers that are hinged together. Shado-Yougu can, on command, create any tool or weapon that can fit in these containers, or the components to make something larger or wider than would otherwise be possible. The tools or weapons can remain within the containers for easy access or be immediately projected out. The created objects cannot be made of unusual materials, nor can they be modern weapons from the Mortal World, such as guns or grenades.

Iwaki has abilities remarkably similar to Michiko. He creates hexagonal barriers, prefers hand to hand, except he's strong where she's quick, has incredible reiryoku for an un-seated, does better barriers, and can use kido. >.> Just pointing out.

I'm having trouble figuring out what you mean in the bold section. Are you shocked that you agree with me on something? Is it just shocking that I've come out of the blue with very strong opinions? I don't want to jump to any conclusions as I am really quite baffled.

In any case, round two of my opinions (as little weight as they may carry given my inevitable inability to participate):

Las Noches: The king and his court aspect is awesome, and I back that facet completely. However, I'm really not a fan of Shinigami being welcome there for any reason. As a matter of fact, It strikes me as much better story that we take Draken's theme of a plot of neutral ground and build upon it while still leaving the villains... -well villains.

The idea is that the movers and shakers for both the Shinigami and Hollow factions realize that neither side can come out a clear winner in an all out war... -yet. Thus, something of a cold war is in effect as both sides continue to build up their forces. This accomplishes several things at once. One, Las Noches is no longer the primary antagonistic force in the game while still remaining a relevant threat in the shadows (as Hollows are supposed to be in the setting). Two, this leaves room for multiple Hollow factions to form as either antagonists for the Shinigami forces [one such group at a time people, communicate with each other and set up a waiting list or something ], or as rivals (who scrap with each other in the Great Desert/low population areas of the mortal world for fear that the King/Espada/Fraccion/Numeros[sp?] will smear them for disrupting their environment).

This way, there is always a credible source for new faces to appear in the mortal world without making them pre-determined foes protected by plot armor (and let's face it, plot armor is often bad for the game). With the cold war in effect, every Hollow and Shinigami NOT within the confines of their respective strongholds would find themselves to be fair game yet still have a permanent safe haven in the event that member of either side need to retreat. Thus, the lines are drawn in the sand and there isn't this constant barrage of attacks on the forces of good (which will result in a lighter game by default).

From here, there is the matter of conflict in the mortal world. In the first game, there was a lot of tediously gratuitous loss of mortal life that got increasingly difficult to work with. I am exceedingly annoyed by this. So, I propose the following as in-game canon for this revamped setting: The Menos-level Hollow of Las Noches take care not to needlessly take mortal lives as there are as many "Hueco Mundo" type places around the world as there are "Gotei". Thus, it is prudent for the "Lordes" of a global region to "farm" their local mortal communities (i.e. keeping their "herd" growing). More mortals means more deaths. More deaths mean more potential Hollows and thus more Menos and/or Hollows fit for consumption. If such were the case, the only mortals that should see sudden deaths (if such deaths must happen) would be the old and the dying as they are no longer capable of increasing the number of souls in a region. With such an element in effect, the world itself doesn't have to bear the biggest idiot ball EVER in the face of mass extinction due to players carelessly wanting to make a scene.

Bount: While not needed, I find that I rather like the idea of these and non-menos Hollow forming the meat of the threats in the world. With Bount not even actually needing to kill to remain alive, they make interesting potential anti-heroes alongside the Quincy (so long as the latter group's powers continue to follow game canon by just skipping the Soul Society/Hueco Mundo step in the reincarnation cycle anyway).

Fae: I, sadly, find that I mislike this faction simply because I feel that one set of Shinigami should be more than enough.

The Enclave: I am torn about this faction. On the one hand, I default to being opposed to non-canon material (unless this group is from one of the movies, as I have not watched any of those). On the other, they are a really well themed bunch and potentially very interesting to see grow. I suppose my primary issue lies with ANY significant faction needing to be explained to new players.

I guess my general feeling about quirky characters/factions/mechanics is that they should be hybrids of current canon material, or spiritually awakened humans, as opposed to a whole new group of made of traits. If such a notion is used as a general guideline, I see new faces being far less intimidated by the game because there isn't a massive pile of non-Bleach stuff in a game that claims Bleach in its name.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------

In any case, the above is just a collection of thoughts. Take them for what you will. If they remain welcome, I'm sure I will continue to attempt to share more of them in what time I have left before the last snags on my move are taken care of.

I mean, I really didn't agree with the bulk of your last massive post. But I did agree we should keep to the relative core of our own world, as opposed to using Bleach as a springboard for new factions entierly, or in a great number.

I don't think the power curve was created by Captain's, we had powerful people from the very start, and the power curve did just fine.

It was not untill others came in speaking of their own factions should be equally as powerful, or more so in some cases, than the main factions. And along with this, that people of lower power score couldn't compete in the arena. The former was unfortunate, and baffled me as to who it was let to pass. The latter, frustrating beyond logical understanding yet enforced to an extent it was impossible to throw off.

tl;dr: I think you were to negative on some things, far to positive on others and the bulk of the issue with power curve was misadressed, which we shouldn't do to circumvent the actual decay into power tiers.

Innis/Strawberry: What don't you agree with, and why? Note, there is no hostility or challenge whatsoever in the question. I simply want to know where we differ so that we may reach a balance.

Innis: I disagree about the Captains because most lower ranked characters were left with little-to-no way to meaningfully contribute once a "Captain" or "Espada" showed up. Playing spectator to fights that one is pre-determined to lose due to "rank" as opposed to character traits... It just does not sit well with me. It is a system that punishes new players as the established seats of power are all already claimed.

As for the new factions, I mostly agree. With that matter, I theorize that the problem is two-fold. Firstly, I imagine there is a level of spotlight lust involved. A new face just would not be credible unless it was tougher that the previous one. (This also ties into people rushing plots/factions into the mix before previously established ones were done being dealt with.) Secondly, I guess that the first was fueled by a typical lack of ability to affect the game as character in a "lesser" role.

This could all be me misreading the meta-game, but I doubt it.

1.) I'm a little tired to address this fully. The debacle with uniqueness has been cleared up. I think it's more utter enforcement on not introducing new species/etc. into the game. Sure, the Enclave are non-canon. But they are pretty much Spiritual Mortals, which did exist, all with similar "powers". We aren't against unique spiritual mortals, right? Orihime is literally un-categorizable. So I don't see why we should say no to the Enclave in comparison to the Fae, who are something new entirely; nothing against it, but I do agree that we should keep it generally within the bounds of Bleach, so, in my last example, people like my friend don't need to comb two different wikis just to figure out what may be going on. That's me, though.

2.) Is that with the concept of only being able to use one unique ability at a time? I can understand it, even if so, just want to make it clear.

    1. I've already stated that my stance on The Enclave was firmly with a foot on either side of the fence. I have reasoning for, and against. However, if The Enclave is to be played along the lines of themed awakened humans, I find myself much less concerned about them being a potential negative force in the setting.

    2. The concern lies with just how easy it is to switch from one to another. If the powers end up working like a Magic(tm) sideboard, where the unique trait has to be prepared in advance for a known enemy, I can see it being a very interesting mechanic. However, anything more adaptive strikes me as simply risking trouble without being inherently so.

It is a system that punishes new players as the established seats of power are all already claimed.
This is exactly what I don't agree with, vehemently in fact. It was never the system that imposed such, but the players who created and enforced such a play style. Saying "Hey, no one be a captain/espada/powerful character so everyone can get a chance at the plot pie" isn't going to solve the problem. In fact, its not going to solve -any- problem ever. Other than, you know, power curve. But in doing so, it'll also solve the problem of plot progression. There is just so much you can do when all the character interaction is resolved, and there are no new fights, no new horizon's to explore.

And, not as a personal attack, but I don't think its a fair assessment you've made having been so far removed from the game as you were. I know that sorta comes off sounding snarky and hostile, but I don't mean it as such. Its merely an observation. Perhaps from a more..outside perspective, where you have to play catch up and only really get a good picture of whats going on from OOC conversation it appears as such, but from a game perspective included, what you see in the OOC is exactly what it is. Player....I am loathe to use the word, but bullying and entitlement.

The cut of it, in the end is this. Those who post every day. Those who contrbute to the story on a standard basis, will always have a bigger cut of the plot pie. They will always have more control of the direction of the game and the over all story. And, frankly, thats not a problem. Thats to be expected. You get what you put in regardless of what your doing. Its true anywhere in life, its not going to change merely for a game. People who want in the plot have to put themselves in. Long standing plots are hard to break into. It takes effort, but punishing the whole because of this is silly, if not down right self defeating. People comming in mid story, without some way of knowing whats come before, are at a disadvantage. Those who come in at the tail end with the same lack of knowledge more so. Again, thats just the system, not anything that is actively against them. It had nothing to do with power levels, and everything to do with how the player base was set up to recive new players.

I see where you are coming from. I suppose that is where I get my issue with rank from: Players feeling that rank = power and thus lower rank = lower power. I fully understand, and support, the notion that long standing characters (who have put effort into enriching the game) carry more heft then new faces. What I revile is the meta-baggage tied to things such as the aforementioned ranks. I just figured that it's easier to change the playground than it is to change the kids.

Edit: I understand that "authority equals power (mostly)" in the core material. That's lovely. This is not an anime with one hero and a hack writer (those who would argue this point need to take a good, hard look at Aizen), this is a game where anyone should have the ability to reach the top given enough character growth and plot participation. The things I suggest are all but single approaches to working around the problems I've seen in the first game. I do not, however, claim that they are the only way to remedy them.

I personally find a change of the proverbial playground a good idea, but I find removing the sand for nerf foam to be the wrong direction.

XD Oh man... that cracks me up. Alright, any other ideas on how to kill the game-tainting mentality? Perhaps swatting players with a rolled up newspaper in OOC whenever they pull the rank card as though it were an instant win button?

    <_<

-I'm actually really liking that as an alternative.

Here is a possible three-step solution. Feel free to argue vehemently against them and throw rotten eggs.

    1) Outcomes of fights are determined via random dice roll on the forum dice thing. Once the result is decided, it's up to the RPers to make it convincing. If it's the underdog who wins, it's a long hard and bloody battle with a surprising outcome, while if it's the higher-rank who wins, it's less so. I recommend this is scrapped in the case of Plot-Important Battles(TM).

    2) Every RPer gets three Win Tokens which they can pull at any time to win a battle they think is important to them or their character, despite what the dice may say. Once these three are used up, the RPer does not get any more. The other RPer involved may also pull one of their Win Tokens, cancelling out the other, in which case either the dice are rolled again to determine who wins or the other RPer pulls another Win Token, basically showing who wants this battle won more. Once a Win Token is used up it is gone forever.

    3) Plot-important battles involving the Big Bad or the CG are decided via vote in OOC secret vote via each person PMing both participants with their vote; thus making the outcome more unpredictable.

Feel free to shoot this down with impugnity.

The concept behind 3 is interesting. 1 has its merits (and flaws), but 2 seems to set off my spidey sense and I'm not sure why.

    Midkan Hama:
    Spoiler
    Show

    Name: Midkan Hama

Affiliation: Samsara, Mortal monitor, keeps a track of all mortal world relations, and sets up things for them.

Power Level: 3rd seat normally, second augment conditional release... Vice Captain level.

    Age: 33.

Weight: 210 Lbs. A tall, and well muscled man, and by well muscled I mean BUILT.

    Hair: Black

Eyes: A cool amber color, with flecks of silver thrown in there liberally.

Hair: Black, kept in a short crew cut.

    Zanpaktou: Inu Senka

First Augment (constant): Inu Senka is a constant release zanpaktou, it's main power being the Mystic eyes that make Midkan stand out so brashly in a crowd, and allow him to be seen by mortals, and act functionally as both a human, and a spirit. It also functions as a single barrel semi automatic seiga semi automatic shotgun.

Mystic Eyes Charm: His eyes, while naturally cute in their own right, grant him the ability to make someone trust him completely just by looking into their eyes for 10 seconds. This can be broken by sufficent will power, or if it would make them do something they normally would not have done.

Mystic Eyes, Paralyze: This being the most oft used of his abilities. This allows him to slowly paralyze someone with his continued glare, this takes time, and varies from person to person based on spiritual/will power, and it's starting effects start as a unwillingness of your fingers, or most outward extremities to move, the more will power, or spiritual power you have though, the longer this takes to take hold.

This is also REALLY handy for stopping kidnappers from shooting a hostage.

Second Augment (Conditional): Cry, Inu Senka: The true form of his zanpaktou's release, and arguably himself. Can only be shown, and weather he likes it or not, on the day of the Full Moon. In this augment, his body writhes, and warps, turning him into the iconic creature of legend. The Werewolf. Giving him Super Human (Even by Shinigami standards.) strength, and speed... But also giving him all the weaknesses a were wolf has, silver pierces his skin as if it were tissue paper, and stops any natural healing for long periods of time. As well as any attack from wolves or wolf like beings tearing into his flesh as they would anyone elses, this includes the resident Wolf people like Nukari, Catrin, and Ami.. In the previous RP.

His reiatsu power in his constant release will be around 3rd, or 4th seat here... except in the involuntary and uncontrollable second stage.. This can ONLY happen once monthly as well depending on the stages of the moon.

The second part I'm leaving entirely up to the RP if it should be in there at all, and am fully willing to take it out into well down the line if that is what people want.

    Also.. Horngeek..

I have a character named Izumi Hayashi from a old Evangelion RP we did... She piloted unit 02, and was extremely hot blooded (A gurren lagann expy in fact.. and this was before I read Shinji Ikari and Warhammer 40k.).

So I'm sorry, but I think I have her image stuck in my head for that character. >_<
    *cough*
