I just post a list of the maps and you give me a link with a new one!? I'm downloading City 17 now. It looks like there's a new Dead City out and it looks like Death Aboard was finally converted for L4D2. I'll get them tomorrow.

If you're not checking the 2 server threads (which we should probably consolidate) the Mumble server is up and working. Have fun.

I've reached a final analysis on Aliens vs. Predator (original). It really isn't scary, now that I'm no longer 7 years old, but I will say this much: it's intense in a way that a lot of games aren't. Sure, there'll be five minute segments where you'll just be wandering around picking off aliens, but sooner or later you're going to be low on health, moving through a dark area, and you're going to see five aliens rocketing towards you at mach 10 when you've only got ten bullets in your magazine (and you can't reload unless you've burnt through the whole thing). You're going to have to run away and aim for the heads and pray you don't run into one coming the opposite direction. And avoid the facehuggers. Facehuggers, man. Those little pasty bastards.

It's not many games that have enemies as squirrely as the aliens. They'll come at you quite fast, from any angle, and the motion detector's basically no help at all. Especially if you play without flares, like a real warrior me, it's certainly not boring.

Oh, yeah, there are other campaigns besides Marine. Eh--Predator's pretty fun, I guess. I have to say that I feel substantially less cool than the one in that movie, although that might be because on this difficulty your energy levels are depleted quicker than a can of pringles taped to Jibar's gut and you've got the robust constitution of a chain smoker in a plague ward.

And I don't care for the Alien campaign, which is 33% wandering around the floors and ceilings of painfully samey hard-to-navigate surfaces, 33% telescoping the bones in your pinky by holding down the goddamned wall crawling button, and 33% getting instantly punked by any enemy if you're on a manly difficulty. It is actually harder to kill an alien as a marine than it is to get killed by a marine as an alien. You'd think that the ultimate killing machine would evolve plot armor.

So, has anyone tried Beat Hazard yet? I got it an hour ago, still on the fence. It's a great game, I just wish the effects the music have on it were more... well, obvious, I guess (like in Audiosurf, for instance). That said, it's a whole lot of fun. Just, you know, watch a Youtube video before you buy it, just to gauge whether you can survive it or not. It's a bit seizuretastic.

Anyway. Thoughts?

Played city seventeen. Wasn't particularly great, wasn't much of a depression.

I played through some of city 17 yesterday myself. Some of it was interesting, I liked the use of the plane effect from "Dead Air" instead of the giant AT-AT thingy (I don't remember what they are called), and the gauntlet crescendo event was pretty wicked when running up the parking garage where the antlions come out of the ground. The maps were nicely re-skinned with the L4D2 shininess, but there is the one problem: it IS a HL2 map. So, sadly, it was not originally designed to be played like L4D2 and is a bit more linear and doesn't have the puzzles and such like in Episode 1. Oh, also, i found 3 witches in the first level, TWO of which were right next to each other and in front of the safe room...on normal difficulty.

Hoo boy, I sure do like the feeling of being credit to team. Some actions were pretty nicely choreographed. Also, props for healing to Dogmantra.

Can we just post it as a event on one of the groups? I think that removes the time conversion for everyone, and just tells us when it is in our time zone.

I'm not used to seeing spy scouts, which Knife seems to adore. So here I am leaving the last RED spawn (the one that the REDs use when they have all the CPs but one).

I'm not used to seeing spy scouts, which Knife seems to adore.

It's because everyone knows they're a pretty rubbish disguise, like Medic, so people don't bother to spycheck them, just like the reason you can get tauntkills in semi-serious matches is that no-one expects you to try that really.
