Re: LGBTitp - Part Six
10 years ago in school. Sounds pretty much like mid- to late 20s to me. At least it does work that way in my case.

Re: LGBTitp - Part Six
Hey ya'll, I got something to say...
My girlfriend has asked me to tell you all thanks for her, and to give ya'll a big thumbs up. She's been on vacation, and when we finally had a chance to talk, I told her what all ya'll had said about her situation, and that she was basically normal and had nothing to be worried or embarrassed about. Well, it helped. She feels a lot better now. And she just wanted me to pass her thanks along.
And I'm also passing along my own thanks, since you all were nice enough to answer my questions on the matter. Even if it seemed like a small problem, ya'll really helped, and I'd just like to say thanks for that.Anemoia: Nostalgia for a time you've never known.

I believe I actually have my whole birthdate in my profile... I just turned 24, anyway. Which is quite old enough, thank you. Sheesh...The Iron Avatarist Hall of Fame!

Re: LGBTitp - Part Six
I just visited the local gay bar, with a friend, and I was very pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere, not to mention all the cute guys.
I really should go again, and actually talk to a guy.

DabblerWizard: Yes you should. Maybe even ask for a dance.
I need to find a good local hangout. Not necessarily a gay bar, just someplace I can go every night and talk to people.

Re: LGBTitp - Part Six
It isn't? I thought it was phenomenally painful and drove women to crabbiness and violence.
Sort of like a period that lasts for several months until the woman is no longer fertile at all.
Am I acting off of faulty information? I had really thought menopausal women were incredibly unhappy and much more unpleasant than they would be either before or after the conclusion of the menopausal process.

Re: LGBTitp - Part Six
Didn't I cover this. . .Oh. Feminism threads. Not much overlapping readership. Right. Sorry. Stripping away as much artifice and division as possible from female and male--discard the secondary effects of the hormones we all produce, the society, the view as seen from the other side of the gender divide, the view from people trying to cross the gender divide*, the mind-forged manacles etc.--still leaves the reproductive functions. So long as you have yours, you're chained to that gender. The female chains are of limited duration. A woman on the far side of menopause is still woman-in-the-past, but currently free of any immutable gender distinction; she's simply human. (By the same analogy, does a man ever return to the equilibrium of 'simply human'? As I understand it, y'all wouldn't*, and that's a cause for unhappiness.) I know the situation is only slightly less far in the future than death itself, from the generally young vantage point here, but I do enjoy thinking about the inevitable. Now returning you to the scheduled GBT discussion, assuming that only the Ls haven't already changed the channel.
*statement subject to being ignored, if you're discarding views from people on the outside looking in

Re: LGBTitp - Part Six
I don't find clubs/bars to be very appealing places in general, considering the fact that I actually like talking to a guy...
However, this bar that I went to, was nice, it had a whole outdoor section which was much quieter than the inside, and seemed innocuous enough.
On the other hand, it is in the middle of nowhere, which is sketchy, and makes me kind of sad.

Re: LGBTitp - Part Six
Never liked going to bars myself. Just too noisy, costly and most alcohol drinks taste bad anyway.

Re: LGBTitp - Part Six
It depends what you like the taste of. For a beginner, alcopops are a sound start. If you like fruity things, a lot of places do fruit beers or ciders. I can reccomend Kopparberg ciders, they're fantastic to a tee.
My personal favourite is Gaymers, having been given a box as a joke present, but it's good stuff.Everything I say is 100% TRUTH*
